I am an univ student and have never worked as full time job worker.But my mother has full time job and she usually comes home till pm6:00 and we can live fully(I don't have father so maybe she get allowance)
My brother works in a factory and he seems rarely to have over time work but he always says salary is too low.
Of course,labor hours depend on companies but average labor hours in Japan are surely longer than your country tho it's improved gradually

I've heard that japanese people are working not very much longer than european counterparts but in the end they are obligated to stay longer in the company and working up to 12- 13 hours a day due overtime. Like, it's not good to leave before the boss is leaving and alot of japanese people won't leave earlier as well because they don't want a bad reputation.
