But I think it's important to keep in mind that the photographer probably just took pictures of the most interesting/unique looking people he could find, the people photographed most definitely wore their "nice" clothes or maybe even got asked to "dress up" as whatever country they were coming from, etc. This is not how everyone dressed/looked at the time but it's a nice slice of extremes, I have to admit.
