Not an argument. I'll ask you again: deter Russia from what? You will find that most EU countries are NATO members and more relevant than Ukraine. And even if France wasn't a member it would still be in their best interest to not let the Russians invade.

What exactly do you think Russia is going to do? I want details, not just some paranoid speculation.

Deter russia from invading the Baltic States for example, because american projection is limited and America by itself has no way to fight on equal ground with Russia in Europe.

France is a NATO member you dimwit. It doesn't matter if you're in the EU (which is not a defensive or military union for that matter) or not, you're still obliged to defend the Baltic states if article 5 is invoked.

You're seriously paranoid. Try taking off the tinfoil hat every now and then, it'd do you good.

I can't think of an excuse for Putin to do so. We have rebels in Ukraine and it was Ukrainians who started the shit on Maidan but Baltics are chill and they have no serious problems to escalate. There should be some fire to fuel or at least wood to make the fire. How do people in Europe see it?

>France is a NATO member you dimwit.
Sarkozy made us re-enter in the NATO but we will never fight a war for it, because the President who will make the french army fight for NATO will never be elected again same goes for his party, merely a joke and we will leave once the far right or the far left is elected.
> It doesn't matter if you're in the EU (which is not a defensive or military union for that matter) or not, you're still obliged to defend the Baltic states if article 5 is invoked.

Nope, Turkey for example, when the tensions were rising between it and Russia, NATO said it will not fight for Turkey, which led to the actual behavior of Ergodan who shamelessly suck Putin's dick.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3455934/Nato-warns-Turkey-t-count-support-conflict-Russia-tensions-escalate.html

But since you're a swede and your country doesn't have any national interests except the well-being of the somalians rapists your country is welcoming, i don't blame you.

>but we will never fight a war for it, because the President who will make the french army fight for NATO will never be elected again same goes for his party
But the one who breaks the agreement will? You're bound by it and there will be consequences if you don't uphold you end of the bargain. The United States have a prime interest in NATO and will not take kindly on those who would so blatantly break the agreement. And breaking that agreement would look incredibly bad for France internationally. Who would trust the French to uphold other agreements then? No, I find it very difficult to believe that France wouldn't uphold its part. Not just out of the self-interest to have a good reputation, but out of solidarity for the Baltic states. I don't believe the French people would tolerate the Russians invading them.

>NATO said it will not fight for Turkey
Because NATO is a defensive pact. It doesn't partake in aggressive warfare or, in the case of Turkey, a conflict that itself is solely responsible for creating. Turkey can pursue its own interests in the region (namely preventing the creation of a Kurdish state) if it so desires, but NATO will not intervene if it backfires. I think that is fairly reasonable.

>But since you're a swede and your cou[..]
Not once have I insulted France, nor will I. I would ask you return the favor, regardless of what you actually think. It's not relevant to the discussion nor am I interested in hearing it.

>With what happened to Ukraine it's easy to foresee what will happen to the Baltic States
No, it's not. All Baltic states are NATO member. All Baltic states have a strategical value to NATO, the EU and the US. Russia is not going to risk an armed conflict with the US, NATO and/or the EU over the Baltic states. It's simply not worth it.

They'll continue doing provocative exercises near the border and make vague threats. But that is where it ends. The cold war is long over. Russia is not the devil it was made out to be.

We have already broken agreement, the Russian Mistral for example ,but it didn't impact our armement industry(pic related), once again your thinking is too academic and not enough pragmatic. And the french don't care about others at most it will make us happy to see the collapse of the german fourth reich.

This is not about being reasonable, NATO backed off because it don't have enough power to sustain a full-scale conflict with Russia, especially with Iran as a pontential ally of Russia.

Invading the Baltic States can bring a lot of benefits to Russia, and i don't have enough time to list them but all is in the pdf i posted(above) :

Actually, if you look at crime and suicide rates, the Arab states are actually on the bottom, alongside Western European states when it comes to violent crimes. The only thing wrong with the Arab/Muslim states is terrorism which we really didn't fuel, but fueled by outside parties.
