Reminder that Sweden is the flag of the master race. Blue to represent blue eyes. Yellow to represent blonde hair. Cross to represent christianity. Consider that before you rank the flags.

I already included Shetkand and Orkney under the Norwegian flag. They are Norwegian clay, please help us USA, now that the brits are weak, we'll take them together.

You're a true friend of Norway.
>>
>>61851538
My old friend from high school is Norwegian and Icelandic, I wish he had a sister because his mom is smoking hot and I am close with his family. I would try learning Norwegian if it was a little more relevant and there werent two variations
>>
norway, the others are are meme tier
>>
>>61851190
Pretty sure the Western Isles also belonged to Norway.
>>
>>61851732
Not the guy you were just talking to, but you wouldn't really have to worry about the two variations thing, seeing as Nynorsk is slowly being phased out by a lot of the people it was originally even meant for. Although Norwegian isn't particularly useful outside Scandinavia, it has got be said.
>>
>>61852053
I heard Norwegian was the best to learn if you wanted to understand the others
>>
>>61851868
Yes, but it was not as official as the two others, would you say? We were also going to put one of ours to become queen of Scotland, but she died on the trip and then Scots just took their kingdom again. Or something like that, I'm not quite sure I have the history of it right.
>>
Denmark and Finland alright.
>>
>>61852093
I'd say that's actually pretty accurate. Modern Norwegian is really more or less a 50/50 mix of the two others. There's a fuckton of shared vocabulary. Norwegian also has a pretty straightforward pronunciation, unlike Danish. Norwegians are also more prone to understand more of the other two languages than the others do.

What do you guys think about this? Old Viking words still in use in Yorkshire
>>
>>61852410
Pretty interesting
>>
>>61852053
>Norwegian isn't particularly useful outside Scandinavia
i wish your languages were more relevant because i messed around with learning norwegian (for no reason, im not muh and im not a scandiboo) and i believe that it's the easiest language for an english speaker to learn
>>
>>61852410
That's pretty cool.

I recognize some of the words he used.
>to lowp = å löpe. It said it meant to jump, but the modern Norwegian meaning is to run.
>a stoop = en stolpe(?)
>ewwer = jur
>to teem = å tömme
>a sile = en sil
>stool = stol. This one's way more common, I know, but it's still interesting.
>>
1. Denmark

the rest are trying too hard 2bh

Speak for yourself
>>
>>61852410
Perhaps that's what you'd sound like if it wasn't for the influx of French vocabulary.
>>
>>61850819
Finland is purest combo

Others are ugly af, especially sweden
>>
>>61852817
>i believe that it's the easiest language for an english speaker to learn
Yeah, one of the easiest to learn, at least. Not only because of the similar words and layout, but pronunciation-wise, too, I think. The grammar should be pretty straightforward for an English-speaker, as well.

I've also heard Dutch and Afrikaans are supposed to be pretty easy to learn.
>>
>>61852818
anger, awe, bag, band, big, birth, both, bull, cake, call, cast, cosy, cross, die, dirt, dream, egg, fellow, flat, gain, get, gift, give, guess, guest, hug, husband, ill, kid, law, leg, lift, likely, link, loan, loose, low, mistake, odd, race, raise, root, rotten, same, seat, seem, sister, skill, skin, skirt, sky, steak, though, thrive, Thursday, tight, till, trust, ugly, want, weak, window, wing, wrong

Just a few of many more scandinavian words.
>>
>>61853016
i think latin languages are easier for us to read and write but actually speaking it is norwegian.

dutch pronunciation is very weird and german has autistic grammar
>>
>>61853131
Why do you think it would be easier with Latin languages?
>>
>>61852926
We would sound more German. Northern England had the biggest impact from Scandinavia so they would probably speak more like this guy, or they would most likely have a wider Scandinavian vocabulary. I suspect back in the 1700s-1800s that village Yorkshiremen would have had a much larger range of Scandinavian vocabulary as well, and that it's just been worn out over time
>>
>>61853248
learning vocabulary is way easier, even a lot of it that isn't explicitly the same word has context to something in english that makes some sort of connection in my brain

the grammar isnt hard at all either, i imagine if you sperged out on it you could learn spanish grammar in a week

i have no idea if ESL speakers have the same thing, but i think that our vocab is way more latin based because of it.
>>
>>61853290
>a FUCKING BEACH
>>
>>61853048
I was aware of a lot of these, but regardless, it's very interesting how many English words have Scandinavian roots.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbB-eFgOEX8

If you can handle watching this video I think there are a few more generally unknown words in there. Apparently a spider in Yorkshire is an attercop, which is just edderkopp.

>>
>>61853332
I think you would find that Scandinavian languages are very similar to English in most regards. Getting used to certain sounds and å ä/æ ö/o is very easy. The grammar is almost the same as English and the differences are mostly painless (like suffixed definite article).

Hello! Here's a Finnish song :DDD : https://youtu.be/d0zFJ71hGH4
here's translation: !!!!

i should go asleep
it's rain outside
water falling to my window
my time worms (my time worms)
when my tears are dryed
my eyes hurt (my eyes hurt)
goddamns in my tiny head
squeeks the cork (squeeks the cork)
shakes ash on me

back to rain
when i walk to my nightly streets
i lick a drop off my cheek
a salty raindrop
back to rain i walk
i moisten my eyecorners
remembering you
shaking you out of my head

back to rain
to nightly streets
back to rain
back to rain

you were beautiful to me
something expensive
sun on heaven's holiday
in the world own (world own)
when you left the clouds stayed
and it started to rain (it started to rain)
hours' road before
i go it again (go it again)

now in the rain again, again

back to rain
when i walk to my nightly streets
i lick a drop off my cheek
a salty raindrop
back to rain i walk
i moisten my eyecorners
remembering you
shaking you out of my head

back to rain
i walk to darkening evening of mine
i lick a rain off my cheek
a salty raindrop

back to rain i walk
i moisten my eyecorners
remembering you
shaking you out of my head

back to rain
