When kid, I traveled to some northern states and I saw a lot of them. Their sizes were average, nothing impressive, but they were fucking fast and their venom hurts like hell. After getting bitten by one I never messed with centipedes ever again.
I never saw one in my state, and I think the giant ones are from asian countries.

Not concerned with your request but still I'll share my experience with centipedes

Here in southern France we have the weakest subspecie , however it is still the insect with the most painful bite on par with a hornet sting.

They get into houses and you almost step on them sometimes
I hate them
>>
>>61735352
there are alot of giant species in south america as well. and well try not to get bit. I just think they are beautiful and amazing looking. Purely a display animal. I would never handle them
>>61735359
and youre lucky they arent subspines or even worst, dehaani. dehaani has the worst bite of them all
>>
>>61734925
We get pretty big ones here especially after heavy rains/floods, This one time I saw a huge one that had a green body and yellow legs.
They're bad news.

this species lives in Brazil and south america in general. Scolopendra gigantea. you would be surprised how much money they sell for here and in europe
>>
>>61735552
please capture one and send it to me and I will send you money on paypal. soooo serious. i want to move back overseas and 50% of the reason why is to be able to field collect them
>>
One more bump
>>
>>61735068
Are they harmless?
I thought that they bite the shit out of you
>>
>>61735426
Now I'm curious, if you're not handling them alive, how do you keep their exoskeletons from decomposing or at least breaking apart, do you dip them in some kinda of chemical mixture?
>>
that shit looks disgusting
also how do they survive the shipping?
>>
>>61735983
They do. Their venom is very painful. But I'm a animal enthusiast and want more species.
>>
>>61735983
My aunt got bitten by one, She had t go to the hospital for treatment and the bite itself left a permanent scar.

>>
>>61736138

>>
>>61736137
I don't know what makes people think shipping living creatures is a good idea...

I work for UPS and you wouldn't believe how we and other shipping companies (FedEx, DHL, USPS) treat packages... Even overnight and 2 day air shipping. In fact, it's more likely to receive damage the faster you ship due to package handlers and air handlers slaving inside the hubs trying to get your package(s) out of their cargo holds (Air containers, trucks, etc) as quick as possible.

You can slap as many fragile, and rush delivery stickers you want on that shit, it's still going to get kicked around, tossed 10 feet in the air, wedged in between other boxes, kept in 120+ degree cargo holds, and possibly lost or busted.
>>
>>61736167
Post your collection of those fuckers

Don't tell me that the next step is building a human centipede
>>
>>61736181
No worries I am careful. Really? None of you are willing? If I lived in a country they were native to I would catch them all the time
>>
>>61736254
all of my invertabrates have been shipped to me and are all healthy and alive. I have even orded fish online. Mailing dogs cats and birds is a bad idea but insects and reptiles isnt a big deal to me
>>
>>61735565
Oh I see, these ones are probably found in the rain forest region then, but I've never met anyone who went up there or came from there. Not everyone is willing to get eaten by a jaguar or anaconda, y'know

You might have received luck, but I can't tell you how many times we've been inside air containers, and all of a sudden a baby python or tarantula comes slithering out because some dumbshit at another hub forgot the basic principles of loading and "building the wall using cornerstone method", and the creatures package was crushed open during transport.
>>

Saw a black widow IRL for the first time last week. Captured it. Gave it some shit-tier spider, a Turk (German cockroach), and an American cockroach as friends.

A few days ago, it laid an eggsac and proceeded to eat and kill the American cockroach. I'm waiting to see what it's like when the eggs hatch, then I'll probably put the container in the freezer, then trash.

Pic related for you sick, centi-collecting fucks
>>
>>61736512
>everyday I wonder how difficult transporting mail is

Put it this way... Have you ever received your tracking number, started following it from the first hour, it's still in your local hub, then gets tracked to another hub (about halfway to your destination), and stays there for much longer than it should?

It's because some half assed handler either forgot to process it correctly through the scanners, or worse, tossed it around and it got lost, and forced that hub to stop what it was doing to intercept your package and grant it overnight delivery on a plane (even if you didn't pay for it) just to meet your expectations.

This is just one of MANY complications we deal with every 30 minutes, multiple times, 24/7, 365.

Supervisor for air containers and feeders (unloading trucks)
>>
>>61736768
/an/ will fuck you over if you break animal laws. They have doxxed people for obviously abusing animals.

But insects don't trigger them so you'd be in luck if you ask there.

You can also go to /asean/ and ask as well. Those fuckers are all wagecucks and would do anything for a hundred bucks.

>>
>>61736814
k guess i'll ask there. I was just hoping to find someone who could do me a solid haha because i seen people who live in guadalupe and other countries who these species just crawl in their homes and people here would pay alot of money for them while they are just squashing them
>>
>>61736833
no i never posted there or browsed either. I thought i would try with all the international people because the other day I saw a thread on here about the insects in their countries that they hate and someone posted a centipede worth like 400 bucks
>>
>>61736773
The American roach was in there a few days longer and was pretty slow, having had its thorax crunched a lil bit by my cat and missing a back leg.

The German one is still quite the nimble navigator. Hoping it gets hungry enough to try eating the babies or dead roach or spiders, perhaps that's what got the other one killed.
>>
>>61736567
I think thats the most common colour here. I dont know shit about centipede tho. I only saw them couple times when i visit my cousin farms.

I just give it whatever the cat brings catches, other than birds obviously. Might try the next mouse.

I have very little interest in actually keeping the thing alive, especially after it laid those eggs. I'm going to stop doing the daily oxygen exchange once they hatch (never poked holes in the lid for this very reason).

I'd gladly press a button that would instantly destroy all black widows, goes the same for any needlessly dangerous creature (rattlesnakes, box jellyfish, muslims)
>>
>>61736343
hey anon why don't you care about reptiles, you can't seriously say they are on par with invertebrates

>The Sateré-Mawé people of Brazil use intentional bullet ant stings as part of their initiation rites to become a warrior. The ants are first rendered unconscious by submerging them in a natural sedative, and then hundreds of them are woven into gloves made of leaves (which resembles a large oven mitt), stingers facing inward. When the ants regain consciousness, a boy slips the gloves onto his hands. The goal of this initiation rite is to keep the glove on for a full 10 minutes. When finished, the boy's hand and part of his arm are temporarily paralyzed because of the ant venom, and he may shake uncontrollably for days. The only "protection" provided is a coating of charcoal on the hands, supposedly to confuse the ants and inhibit their stinging. To fully complete the initiation, however, the boys must go through the ordeal a total of 20 times over the course of several months or even years.
