"What is the EU?" is the second top UK question on Google since the Brexit results were officially announced.

"Even though I voted to leave, this morning I woke up and I just — the reality did actually hit me," one woman told the news channel ITV News. "If I'd had the opportunity to vote again, it would be to stay."

That confusion over what Brexit might mean for the country's economy appears to have been reflected across the United Kingdom on Thursday. Google reported sharp upticks in searches not only related to the ballot measure but also about basic questions concerning the implications of the vote, as well as questions about what the European Union is.

posy yfw "In light of this vote, we first need to reflect on the choices people made and why they made those choices. I'm sure there are concerns but perhaps the decision was rash and many voters did not fully comprehend the ramifications. We must not forget the very substantial portion of our people who wished to remain in the European Union, and in light of new facts many Leave voters may not still be committed to their decision. Democracy does not mean being tied to single impulsive decisions that cannot be reviewed and changed, rather the process is dynamic and ever evolving and the actions of this government must meet those realities. To do anything else would be simply to impose a tyranny on a minority by a majority, and this is not what our country stands for"

It's Cameron's fault though. He's an imbecile that prioritized the internal situation of his party over the general interests of the country.

In a Democracy you need to be aware that there's a considerable size of utter morons out there that haven't open a book in their lifes and posess the critical-thinking skills of a mosquito and that are going to be swallowed by the meme tide of populist meme makers. And they can vote.

You just cannot skip your governing and leadership responsibilities and place the decision of the most vital issues over the shoulders of the general populace in a referendum. That's absolutely idiotic.

I wish all the tinfoil hat conspiracies were right but they just aren't.
This is it. Britain (Cameron) has literally let the largely uneducated masses decide on a matter that is of such crucial significance to the country that it's already caused effects all over the world that at most 10% of those who voted to leave expected or even understand.

Representative democracy should be the rule. We actually have a non-binding clause on this referendum which means parliament could technically over rule it but it won't happen. 16 million people, including me, including the vast majority of educated, young people, including most experts have just been sold up the river. The career and life choices I was planning for the next 5 years and have been working on for the last 3 are unlikely to be possible. It's done.

Also kinda interesting you've just witnessed one of the most storied and historic countries in the world commit suicide- Scotland will leave, NI will look to leave. The final act of the UK as a whole voting entity was to choose to usher in it's own irrelevance and the end of it's own existence.

Scotland is the best weapon the EU has to get back at the Brexiters. It's been cheated politically for years, and that thought is still fresh in peoples minds. Many voted to stay during Indy1 because of the stability of the economy and the uncertainty of EU membership. Those two arguments just went up in flames. Then we voted to Remain in the EU in overwhelming numbers, for the English vote to work against us.

The EU will use that anger to convince us in to separation, about the worst thing it could do to the country. Fortunately, it will support Scotland to show the Brexiters how life could have been for them. Eventually Scotland will receive the foreign investment needed to be viable without EU funding, it already has top-tier infrastructure and connections, so pulling a Greece isn't really on the cards.

So aye, the EU will thank Scotland for it's faith, and use Scotland to smite England. Like I've said before, the EU is a powerful friend, and an even more powerful enemy.

Based on a promise of greater autonomy. That autonomy barely got off the ground, and today whatever wings it had grown just got ripped off and crushed to dust. England voted to leave The EU, Scotland is being pulled along for the ride, but after the first referendum it was specifically made clear that if something like brexit happened there would be a second independence referendum
>>
>>61247314
My country voted to stay in the UK because of several factors, two of which were the stability of the UK economy and the uncertainty of an EU membership. Those two arguments have been demolished by the side that wanted to keep us.

And even against that, you have the fact that Scotland, yet again, was blocked on a vote by the loud English. If they want to leave the EU, fine, I'm happy for them. But Scotland doesn't want to, it made that very clear in the ballots boxes on Wednesday. A political union where the members don't share the same ideology is counter-productive to both parties. Better that we shake hands and go our separate ways.
