>tfw can't pronounce French R
>>
Hey, I remember learning from that video !

Trust me, friend, it gets easier with time.
>>
>>61068876
Depending on where it is in a word, it's either close to English h (parle comes out "pa-hul") or English w (j'ai froid is "jay fwa")
>>
>>61068963
Please ignore this comment. It is absolutely incorrect.
>>
It's the same thing as gargling cum. Shouldn't be too hard for you to do that since you're a Swede.
>>
>>61068963
>j'ai froid is "jay fwa"
Just no.

The way you're pronouncing it sounds like "J'ai foie" literally "I liver."

Same about Parle, the r is supposed to be hear clearly.
>>
>>61069014
>Shouldn't be too hard for you to do that since you're a Swede
I'm not though
>>
>>61069265
Of course not - there are no Swedes left, Jamal!

I cannot also into R

an american proxyplaying as a japanese with a good french pronunciation

interesting
>>
>>61071794
Because our is a "hard" R while the dutch one is similar to the german one, "guttural".
>>
>>61071855
It's done with the uvular, like a classic french r, not with the tongue like niggertongues
>>

Even in that last link. You're just not able to distinguish the two, that's fine, i wasn't expected much of a dirty slav anyway

Hum, sorry :
Why can't they pronounce it in the right way?

well, not really...
>>
>>61071790
Arabic has guttural R you retarded fatso.
>>
>>61072122
Obviously it wasn't, she uses the same r though, which is not a rolled one
>>
>>61071811
>can pronounce the rolled, guttural, English R, and the retroflex R
You're only King of the R if you can pronounce the retroflex R.
>>
>>61068993
This.
>>
>>61072187
you can hear she is rolling her r and it is quite different than piaf's r alveoral trill if you want
>>
>>61072296
She is doing what is called a" r grasseyé"., like piaf.
>>
>>61072030
Oh wow, how ignorant and intolerant. Arabic was the first language that Allah created.
>>
Hmm, can someone vocaroo the french R?
>>
>>61072353
it really depends what word you're saying.

ex:
In "bonjour" the "r" will be kinda light, while in "travail", it will be much stronger.
>>
>>61072134
I think you're confusing the Arabic letters 'ghayn' غین with 'ra'' راء. The guttural sound is transcribed as 'Gh' (think: Benghazi).
>>
>>61072353
3 different kind :

Travail-bonjour-roulé
>>
>>61071272
almost all languages have a rolled r
>>

those speaking uvular as heard in wiki link I posted would probably go to speach therapist so he/she could learn how to pronounce r
lel
>>
>>61072492
>>61072515
Quite good !

Btw I can't recall a single time where I used the rolled "r" outside of speaking spanish or mocking Piaf and old singers in general.
>>
>>61072559
Woops, misquote.
>>
>>61072559
>outside of speaking spanish or mocking Piaf and old singers in general.
ok now im confused
>>
>>61072559

I'm french mate, obviously it's "quite good". And the spanish r is totally different from the Piaf R. We use the uvular to roll our r in french, the spanish uses their tongues. I can't do a spanish r, everytime i'm using my uvular like crazy and it just doesn't sound the same.
>>
>>61072595
Sorry if you thought that everyone here spoke like Piaf...
France has never really been like Amélie Poulain shows it :^)
>>
>>61072632
Well, you have a spanish flag, I couldn't know, now it make sense.
>>
>>61072634
on i didn't but that guy under spanish flag was explaining to me how edith didn't really rolled her r
>>
>>61072515
Well, very nice.

You pronounce it perfectly
>>
>>61072632
>I'm french mate
Oh, ok. That's explain everything.
>>
>>61072671
Apparently there are at least 2 way to roll your "r", but desu I don't really know the difference.
>>
>>61072671
She really doesn't. She's doing it with her uvular, like this :

>>
>>61072746
>has to have an name"frenchman" under the french flag
damn is france really that fucked?

>>
>>61072803
>>has to have an name"frenchman" under the french flag

No, it's just lack of imagination/creativity
>>
>>61072784
I try to do it while singing ( excuse my awful voice, please just concentrate on the R )

http://vocaroo.com/i/s1RPBuRhzW9j
>>
>>61072803
>i wasn't expected much of a dirty slav anyway

wow, where did I said that ?

>>has to have an name"frenchman" under the french flag
I needed a name when /fr/ used to be full of people, got used to this one.
>>
>>61072886
Sounds like you're just yelling
>>
>>61072892
you didn't,true but the french expert under spanish flag did
>>
>>61072867

Because the only "r" we're exposed to which sounds "rolled", is the uvular trilled one. That's why so many french people use it while speaking spanish, because it's the only one we're accustomed to
>>
>>61072920
Yeah i know, i can't sing for shit,
>>
>>61072984
I think it's more a micro problem. adjust it.
>>
>>61071884
Nah, we, you and the Danes have pretty much the same uvular R, while Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Slavs, Swedes and some of our dialects like Bavarian have the “tongue R“
>>
>>61073173
I mean, for everyone in France, your "r" sounds way harder than ours.
I guess for "outsiders" (by their pronunciation), are "r" must sounds similar.
>>
>>61073237
>Our "r" and yours must sounds similar.

Wow I can't write for shit today.
>>
>>61073237

Really ? I find german r quite soft actually, barely pronounced usually.
>>
>>61073237
Maybe you slightly tend more towards trilling while here it's a fricative, but the place is the same
Or you've been watching Hitler speeches or Jewllywood stereotypical stuff based thereon - his dialect was Bavarian indeed where they make it with the tongue
>>
>>61073173
we roll our r's
>>
>>61073326
Well, where are you from exactly, since people in the North, North-East of France tends to have stronger "r" (my opinion), maybe you're closer to them in the pronunciation.

>>61073372
Nah, I guess it's just a case of "we're close culturally, geographically, but we're TOTALLY not the same" at a national level.
>>
>>61073406
Yeah, with the tongue (or front R) as I said, while we use throat R
>>
>>61073472
Normandy, and my pronunciation is really standard, nothing like someone from Calais ( i believe their pronunciation of the r was influenced by flemish )
>>
>>61073624
>influenced by flemish

>>
>>61073624
>Normandy
Are you from there?
>>
>>61071976

>>
Reiger ;^)
>>
>>61073624
Ok so my "theory" is wrong then.

But yeah Calais/North pronunciation is basically belgian, so heavily influenced by flemish.
>>
>>61068876
Yesterday a friend from /pol/ told me to come here to learn french. Is this the right thread?
>>
>>61076882
>>61068876
Tous vous parlent Francais?
>>
>>61076977
You need to go to /fr/ ask nicely and then you have a reasonable chance to get help.

Also ; Vous parlez tous français ?
Ftfy
>>
>>61069087
"jay fwa" is more like "j'ai foi" meaning "I believe/I have faith".
>>
>>61069087
I'm not saying don't make the "r" sound, I'm saying make the "h" and rasp it a bit.
