Not exactly, in my experience with guerrilla warfare, that usually has its own difficulties. Like terrorists mixing up with civilians using them as shields, hiding in delicate places like hospitals or schools, kidnapping and using hostages as leverage, destroying infraestructure to hinder army advancements, etc.
I think we should stick to the solution of stopping their funding and cooperating with russia to help with airstrikes while the syrian army marches in the land.
The promise of international cooperation should give some guarantees to Assad, like letting him participate in elections after the war is over, and could put also conditions to stop him from going full dictator again and protect the human rights of his people.

You have this noble attitude towards war due to your core population being sheltered from enemy attacks by relative wealth and the best geography you could wish for.
In an ethnic/religious warfare scenario over a spot of valuable soil as it has happened in sri lanka and happens right now in the middle east you cannot run or retreat without loosing all you bled for in the firdt place.
While those wars look modern they basically still support stoneage patterns were you kill your enemys women and children so they dont grow into soldiers and kill your offspring.
You ascended that pattern due to having an unconquerable bastion of your ideals whose citizens are not necessarily bound to blood or individual beliefs in order to fit in.
In europe we used to ascend it by strict seperation of people and ritualisation of concessions and advantages (similar to how the greek citystates handled war until alex the great simply hired barbarians from the mountains who did not play by their rules.) until that frame got broken again by our sperg out in ww2 which was the reason it was considered espeacially cruel.
Many regions on earth havnt gotten to this point of sophistication yet.
So in the end, even if it would be for the best, the grim reality is that not everybody can yet afford to be noble.
Its good that the UN speeds the process of general warrule acceptance at least a bit up.
