Shitty way to say it but he's right.

He`s essentially saying there is no "Canadian" identity really other than multiculturalism. Canada is the landmass north of America distinguished by its vague ties to Britain and France.

There are, however, a number of regional identities in Canada and a few (successfully) multicultural cosmpolitan major cities. There is a culture in Newfoundland and the maritimes, and in Québec, but these people have little to nothing in common other than the same culture. There is no identity to hold them together other than the fact that they live in the same country. A Mormon cowboy from Lethbridge Alberta has nothing in common culturally with logger Bob McDougal and his wife Marie-Thérèse Côté in Timmins Ontario other than they are both Canadian. The chink student in Vancouver is Canadian, but has nothing in common with the Orangeman potato farmer in Prince Edward Island (who would feel closer connections to Britain than to America, unlike your average suburban Ontarian who cross border shops and their cousin lives in Syracuse).
>>
>>60568095
He's right though, with globalism the concept of nation states is becoming meaningless

This, the only thing that makes us a distinct and united nation is our common but extremely vague sense of Canadian-ness. Essentially we really aren't distinct, but we see ourselves as separate.
>>
>>60568095

Some "people" try to make the same claim about the States. These "people" ought to be gassed.

In essence it means that people care a lot about their provinces, but the country is more a union of convenience as opposed to a nation. I love my city and my province, but don't expect me to die for a bunch of frenchies and rural Ontario hicks.

I would be perfectly happy if BC split off and joined the USA, as long as the province stayed unified throughout it.

I honestly don't give a shit about Canada.
>>
>>60569803
just so you know this is fake btw, like most of the trudeau memes like "if you kill your enemies they win" is fake but the fact that it could be real is telling. thank god the office of the pm doesn't have much power.

>>60569906
>poland conquering canada

kek

I don't know what you mean. What I'm saying is there is no core identity in Canada and the concept of being Canadian is not like a nation state like Poland or Germany, not that people hate the country or something. Our different regions are people are bound together by our legal and political system, vaguely through the monarchy and some shared history such as in WWII, and our not being American.
>>
>>60569906

Canada may have little in the way of distinct cultural traits, but we certainly see ourselves as a distinct and independent nation, and wouldn't take kindly to a foreign occupation.
>>
>>60570050
If that is worst we can expect then we would occupy canada easily.

>>
it's kinda true, canada (and to a lesser extent, the USA) really HAD the ideal that "anybody who contributes to Canada can become a Canadian"
sadly, with LE WEED MAN in power and importing shitskins by the boatload, it's now "Anybody can become a Canadian" which is really a horrible thing. USA had that policy in the 20th and 19th century and got overrun with niggers turning many of its cities into shitholes, now the same will happen to Canada except with mudslimes and our cities will become not only shitholes, but bombed-out shitholes
>>
>>60570113
>>60570332

Odd, I'm Ontarian and I don't feel that way at all. Maybe that has something to do with Ontario being the "core" of Canada, for whatever that's worth.
>>
>>60570718
This is true. I want to move to the states before things get too bad, but I love my province.

Sadly I see it getting overrun and know there isn't any hope left.

>>60570796
That's because your identity is the cancerous toxic identity that got us embroiled in this whole mess in the first place. Canada would be a hell of a lot better without your province in it.

>>
>>60570850

Other BCer, not the one you're quoting. That could be apart of it. I know many in the west feel (rightfully imo) shunned from the federal government in a big way, and the east in general. And then the far east, Maritimes also definitely feel that. I myself, while feeling a strong connection with the west and western provinces still care a great deal about the bigger picture of Canada as a whole though
>>
>>60570900

He's not Harper was the general idea behind it. If someones in power long enough, the populous will grow tired of them and seek change. Anyways, you have a literal dictator as your leader, so I wouldn't cast stones
>>
>>60571356

Some of my best friends are American, but no we still have differences that I support that separate us. I don't like Trudeau, but he's very temporary in my opinion. I don't believe he'll reach a second term
>>
>>60571377
at least he's not mulcair
>>
>>60571448
How big are the differences really between BC and Washington State?

I highly doubt they are bigger than between Washington and California.
>>
>>60571449
This is true. I voted Harper for the third time, but I wasn't entirely sad to see him gone. I don't like Trudeau, but he had some good ideas, such as spending more into the economy and seniors care. That said, they were all poor candidates this time, with Mulcair being the absolute worst
>>
>>60571503

Not big at all. I drive down to Washington often and it's like the sister land to BC. We have a lot in common in almost every way. But I was talking country to country mostly.
>>
>>60571571
As I said I don't care about the country. We would be joining them as another state, most of our interaction would be with Washington. We get nothing from Canada as is, so at least we could get the benefit of nice trade deals negotiated by the USA.
>>
>>60571274

Because the USA is worse in every possible way. Lower IHDI, worse education, worse poverty, higher prison population, worse crime, worse healthcare, more corrupt, etc.

For all your bitching about Canada we are literally a world class nation.
>>
>>60571449

What's wrong with mulcair? He was pretty centrist and benign desu.
>>
>>60571571
>>60571664
Why is the American Pacific northwest and the Canadian part similar in culture? Does something about the area make people act a certain way?
>>
>>60571727
Centrist by NDP standards. The NDP is horrible at governing provincially so I wouldn't want to see what kind of disaster they could be federally.

I am a fiscal conservative so both left wing parties were awful to me (not saying that Harper who ran the largest deficit ever was fiscally conservative). A lot of the NDP's policies were the Liberal party's turned up to 11.

At least he was less of a meme but he was just as much of a cuck.

All three of them were cucks in their own way tbf.

Edmonton is the Somalian capital of Canada. Don't get me started on BC, the least white province.

This always confuses me though. The conservatives gave them an increased budget, but the military consistently underspent/went under budget by a significant amount if you look into it. It doesn't make sense, it's like the military doesn't want money.
