Is it normal that a regular army unit is tougher than the US special forces?
>French Foreign Legion officers I talked to, who had done joint training there with Navy SEALS, said the Americans were wimps
>>60556027
yes, this is very well known among military circles
I remember the media freaked out over this guys mask for being inappropriate
>>60556027
except french foreign legion has been irrelevant and useless since getting btfo at dien bien phu and resorting to patrolling literal deserts.
meanwhile
>Seals are killing osama
>Seals are helping to destroy taliban
>Seals are fighting ISIS
the best american soldiers are more likely to be privately contracted than in the SEALs, and the best seals are going to be doing things that matter instead of joint training missions in finland tundra or wherever.
its not as if we would display our best for other nations to inspect
>>60556027
French Foreign Legion isnt just a regular army unit, they train at least like the special forces, maybe like rangers or comandos, the worst part of this, is that they accept people with criminal record, doesnt matter what did you comit, they accept crazy fuckers, and give them proper training to kill other people.
>>60556252
I don't think they take murderers and rapists anymore desu.>>60556252
>>60556414
They're not keen on taking hardened criminals anymore.
>>60556027
Not better than US SF, except maybe the Legionnaires that are actually SF themselves. The Legion is 8,000 strong, with many different regiments, and not all of them are combat arms or infantry. I respect the 2REP and 3REI very much though. Oh, and fun fact, the Legionnaire in that photo was kicked out of the Legion due to posing in that mask.
>>60556085
I guess that it's hard to find people who can meet the basic requirements with a nation made of 35% of obeses
>>60556532
Lmao, any military training is easy shit if you aren't a complete pushover and can pay attention. There's very few things that are rough, and that gets into SF territory.
>>60556494
>except maybe the Legionnaires that are actually SF themselves.
But there is no such a thing
>>60556611
Not every training.
>>60556414
Exactly.
Too many ex-legionnaires who went nuts and killed someone during their retirement.
>>60556632
> 2REP GCP
> Not SF
>>60556679
Basic training is easy as fuck, in all countries. There's no way around it, you can not make it too difficult or you will never have a sizeable army. Then you'll usually have your job training or further combat training, depending on your soldier and branch. This is usually much tougher than basic training, but is still easy in most circumstances. Only SF really go through shit in most countries, and even then in most circumstances the mental aspect is much tougher than the physical.
>ywn join FFL and be soldier of fortune because you are a low test beta neet
why even live
>>60556765
2eme REP is not considered as Special Forces indeed
>>60556877
2REP no, but GCP is at the minimum SF capable, and they are technically a 'commando' unit.
>>60556841
Soldiers do not get paid well, in any country, in any military, unless you do something very valuable. Legionnaires do not make much.
>>60556841
Oh and if you want it, go fucking do it.
>>60556841
Lad just do it, what do you have to lose it doesn't matter if you're low test
>>60556027
>They said it, THAT MUST MEAN IT'S TRUE!
Literally you
>>60556944
He will quit. If he is a beta neet, he doesn't have what it takes. Maybe he should start as regular army in his ow nations military, and eventually join the FFL.
>>60556841
Start lifting and start roiding
You'll not longer be low test, then you can join
>>60557011
This
Also, every soldier thinks their branch is the best of the best, because that's the point of morale.
>>60556922
The thing about being military is all of that money goes straight into savings. Imagine if you made even just $100 a day, and had 0 bills to pay.
Nobody never said that US operatores were the best in the world desu. They're good, but not the best.
US grunts are a bunch of whimps indeed.

>>60557084
You get wimps in every military.
I've heard American soldiers say Brits are wimps and vice versa.
>>60557086
You don't have to join up now. It'll take some training, then you can join. Or you can just go to the Middle East and be a vigilante.
>canadians jumping in to defend US soldiers
Good bitch
>>60557086
>i can't even do a single pushup and only run 2200m in 12min it's no use starting at this point i'm a lost cause
Because you've never trained you fucking idiot.
Start going to the gym, do cardio and lift if you're fat. If you're just skinny/skinny fat then eat more and take it easy on the cardio.
Start roiding. If you're fat then go with 250mg test-e/week until you stop being so fat and then do 15 weeks of 500mg test-e and first 5 weeks 50mg dianabol
French foreign legion was the sole reason why the Rwandan massacre did not continue further.
During the second intervention they shot everyone who had machetes or guns outside Kigali, including local police officers and army units.Tutsis and hutus were forced to negotiating table by 140 legionnaires
In Kolwezi intervention they did a combat drop in Kongo and killed hundreds of terrorists with a loss of one single man,and they rescued the hostages.
>>60557176

>>60557086

I will help you, anon.
>>60557221
>they test you for roids and drugs during the medicals dumbass
Dude no one is going to test shit in the french foreign legion
it's a bunch of criminals wanted by interpol or people with no other options in life, they don't give a fuck
i bet almost all people in the FFL are roiding anyway
>>60557189
Go be fucking manly, anon
Did you do your conscription?
I don't think the Foreign legion is a regular unit
>>60557247
This is wrong
FFL does not like criminals anymore, even petty records are looked at with scrutiny. They do drug test. 14/15 people are denied, mostly for little things. And even the Legion's site says "If you are wanted by Interpol, look elsewhere"
>>60556027
I'm sure every military group says that about all the others, but I did hear the navy seals are glory hounds(?).
>>60556027
>late roman empire recruited only germanics because late romans were weak cowards
>France recruits only foreigners because French are weak cowards
Funny how history repeats
>>60557281
I highly doubt they care about roids.
It makes a better soldier, why wouldn't they want their mercenaries and cannonfodder/meat shields to be roided to the gills?
>>60557286
Armyfag here, they are. Delta/CAG does more shit, but doesn't go public with it like the SEALs do. Also, SEALs are the only SF unit that has managed to lose an entire team because they jumped into an electric grid, so there's that.
>>60557304
Because roids mess you up
>>60557328
In what way?
>>60557086
Don't quit before you try you finnish fuck, don't aspire to something just do it
>>60557301
spotted the bullied fatty
>>60557301
Only the Legion recruits foreigners, and even then, they do not end up in command of anything in most circumstances. Officers come from the French Military Academy, and are French.
>>60557304
Roids fuck with athletic performance if you lose supply. In war zones, you do not have a supply. It is a professional organization, and this memery needs to stop. And they are the polar opposite of mercenaries. They are shock troops, commandos, and parachutists. The Legion very much cares about keeping Legionnaires in good health.

>>60557304
roids aren't very good for you, m8
but I'd be surprised if they tested thoroughly. if someone's desperate for sick gains they could probably get away with light doping and then stopping
but then again, if the goal is to grow from zero to Hans Mannbeef, you're better off not abusing the roids. it could fuck you up down the line.
>>60557372
>Your heart
No they don't unless you have pre-existing conditions or you literally do no cardio
>Your hormones
Easily moniterable and fixable

Your penis size has nothing to do with steroid usage. I think you may be referring to your testicles, which is true from prolonged use I guess but it's not a big deal. Your dick will look way bigger in comparison
>>60557417
Jungle training is one of the hardest types of training, especially for Westerners. It's an environment none of us have ever dealt with, and there's shit everywhere that wants to kill you. I passed jungle school, it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, but the thing that gets you is the fear of catching some shitty disease.
Best friend was a paratrooper in the legion, I work with mercs in Ukraine and Iraq/Syria. He was a hard motherfucker, and he had top respect for the USA people he worked with. He disappeared about 8 weeks ago In Syria while working with the SAA supposedly. In my opinion, US SF get the job done, and certainly aren't pussies. The Foreign Legion are also badasses, so let's just get along.

Anyone remember that American a few years back who joined the FFL and started a thread (by a popular demand) about it?
That was a fucking awesome thread. IIRC he was like some kind of 27 year old comp sci graduate in boston who was miserable and joined the FFL on a whim. He provided all the proof too including his name.
Please tell me someone else remembers this

An 18 year old from a cushy Western life with no military experience will have to work harder to prove himself than a 26 year old Somali who's been a soldier since he could speak.
>>60557063
And it's still jack shit. I got out of the Army an E7, I remember how much shit I had to deal with and barely being paid for it.

>FFL
I've read a lot from people in it who would say that the FFL isn't nearly as good as it's toted and filled with a lot of corruption, racism and liars since they'll accept anyone who's willing.
Not saying that Navy seals aren't probably shit too, but they're highly trained in specific scenarios and if they're put in something different naturally they'd become more incompetent than someone trained for it.

> Former Infantry or combat experience
> Looking for something else in life
Or alternatively
> Lacking military experience but highly motivated
> Has a working knowledge of French
> Desperate for a better living, usually has a small criminal record that hinders finding good work
> Motivated beyond belief to get into the Legion
Also, you didn't hear this from me, but being handsome helps in the interviews. And having a good smile. The Legion has a huge PR problem due to the old way of letting in murderers.
By the way, if you do join, do not answer any questions in ways that would make you look like an aspie, and be completely honest with the Gestapo. Keep your story straight, and be respectful. Remember, you need the Legion, the Legion doesn't need you.

I was 5RAR, there in 2010-11 in Uruzgan. Didn't really work with Americans, except for watching them occasionally try to drive a convoy down the road out the front of our base (which is fucking stupid) and getting blown up literally every time. I was in an OMLT so kinda embedded with the ANA.
>>60560611
Military experience, physical fitness, and to a small extent desperation and french skills. When I was in, I just got home from Afghanistan, and ETSd, so I was really out of shit to do. I picked up some French for awhile, worked a shitwage job, and got my plane ticket.
>>60560680
Are military skills the most important of the 4 qualities?
I can't join the American military for bullshit reasons
American infantry and special forces are just too used to bomb everything and advance being covered by all kind of war machines available. The FFL have a lot of machinery, yes, but are not spoiled fags who need all this support to defeat the enemy.

They were army, don't know if reservists or not. I think some kind of cavalry unit. Oh one time we had some US combat engineers come to our base for a joint patrol for some reason. I wasn't very impressed with them desu, everybody had one specific job to do and they just concentrated on their one job and waited for orders all the time. Very different to how we work.
Haha the ANA could be OK, some of them were legit war dogs who would just walk into an ambush spraying their PKM. Others were shit though, and we had a green on blue near the end of the trip which was a bit of a low point.

Hi guys I listened to all the military Rednecks on /sci and look how I turned out.
>>60560856
That's what I never liked about them, we had a lot more green on green than anything ffs, at least they never managed to kill us
I remember once we were coming up under a bridge, we spotted some 'suspicious trash' which clearly had fucking wiring in it, we stopped, an ANA fuck, Tajid was his name IIRC, dismounted and literally walked up to the fucking thing, and it detonated. We still have no clue what the fuck he was thinking
We got smoked for fucking hours until our CO left, then all of our NCOs proceeded to make jokes about Hadji firecrackers
And the organization thing is weird IMO, I was an 11b, infantryman. The US Army really loves it's complete job specialization, where if you aren't doing your exact job, you're just shitting around. It's also lead to a huge divide between occupations, we all hate each other, mostly jokingly but occasionally some dickbag takes it seriously

During the physical portion (for the National Guard) I was told my corrective eye surgery (wasn't lasik) I had a year prior was flagged as a medical disqualification for enlistment despite it being a minor procedure and drastically inproving my eyesight. I tried doing an appeal in the form of a medical waiver
This never came up but I was admitted to a mental ward of a hospital for a week due to a chemically induced psychosis. It had nothing to do with drugs (I don't drink/smoke/use) and a complete accident. I figured if I never tell they would never know... right?
>>60560918
You are not supposed to contact your old friends or family, and if you are caught, you will get your ass kicked. Haha this didn't happen where I was, but in another valley the Taliban had gone up to some government building and replaced the Afghan flag with some Taliban one. After the Aussie unit there spent hours waiting for EOD to come and take a look at it, some ANA soldier had had enough so he just walked up to it and pulled down the flag - POP, one dead ANA as the flag wire was obviously hooked up to an IED.

Another thing, I gave him my new number and he claimed that he tried to call me but I never recieved any calls, this was months ago though

>>60561082
Lmfao, I remember all the dumb shit the ANA did. I can't count on one hand the IEDs they set off being careless
One time an ANA managed to die because the other in our squad didn't exercise trigger discipline, we came under fire, we all dropped to fix fire, he ran to cover and after a few steps he fucking shot the other one
And fuck, the occupational specialty thing was always a pain for most people, I didn't deal with much of it just because I was infantry and busy all the fucking time. The tank crewmen had it the easiest, we didn't utilize them much and since they were dedicated to tanks, they'd get to sit back in the FOB and dick around half the time.

Yes, but it is considered a plus to have a working command. Imagine, if you will, that you have 250 men that do not speak the same language. You have to turn those men into a fighting military, and teach them a new language at the same time. It's a huge pain in the ass, and every single man that can speak French is one less man to spend resources working with.

Somebody who has taken a machine gun burst to the head will be leaking out a large puddle of highly oxygenated blood, random fluids, bits of brain and fragments of skull, while their face will have lost its structure and be all weird as fuck luck some modern art painting.
Fuck knows why Afghan soldiers want to join up. To be honest, for a lot of them being a soldier is easier work and better money than slaving away as a farmer all day every day. They aren't exactly ideological, half of them have close relatives in the Taliban or used to be Taliban themselves.
>>60561274
I do not know, I know that there was a picture of him with a black dude with a huge head, a Muslim guy, and some South American looking guys all with guns smiling at the camera though if that helps. He also has befriended a lot of Slavs on fb too it looks like

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA HOLY SHIT
>>60561330
Shit. You need to be able to speak well enough it comes naturally, and you can speak under stress.
>>60561298
There are many. I recall that the gestapo looked pleased when I told them I didn't have much going for me anymore back in the US. I barely had money to eat, much less pay for a car or any kind of decent living. The Legion has a problem with deserters, you need to show them that you are loyal and will stay for your entire contract. I told them I wanted French citizenship as well, which is something many people want.
The initial contract is 5 years, non negotiable, by the way.
>>60561359
I honestly think our Infantry are the most squared away besides SF and combat medics. A lot of our non-grunty counterparts are completely useless on their own, which is why the Infantry/POG divide exists
>>60561373
That can't really help me, there's all sorts of men inna Legion. Plus I'm not in anymore, so there's that. He best hope he's in 3REI or 2REP, other than that is a shitshow.
>>60561244
>>60561359
what about the ethnic minorities ie tajiks or hazara who were fighting them as part of the northern alliance? sounds like reasonable incentive to fight if the alternative is a bunch of tallie fucks butcher your family.
btw how did you sign up and what was your posting or role? sounds like training foreign armies requires some thorough selection though no clue how australia works.
i just graduated from university and kinda interested in doing something interesting like this but i kinda value personal freedom and would hate to become a mindless grunt following a slightly retarded superior.
I've heard that a lot of the former US special forces who went to Syria to join the SDF deserted after a week or two. I guess you don't have to be very brave when your government only pick fights with the poorest most broken countries on earth after getting beaten in Vietnam.
Join the military and get green card they said, Viva Mexico!
>>60561400
How did you learn your french? Any suggestions if I may ask?
Also, that's basically the truth for me. I have no way to make a decent wage here in the US and can barely afford anything least of all the luxuries of life. I was thinking along the lines of some abstract answer about French republican values and willingness to sacrifice my life for etc etc or something along the lines. Telling them I can barely afford to live in extremely cheap housing is the truth.
Any sort of outlook or character that someone should keep in mind while in the FFL?
Anything you wish you had known before joining that would help you?
(Also, how the fuck did you find out about 4chan dude? Most of the people here are pathetic cretins, myself included)
>>60556027
For small nations probably.
>>60561424
yeah i heard this too. a lot of the stereotypes from canadians are americans are trigger-happy and dumb enough to take anyone.
recruitment standards are stronger here since a lot of people do it as a career and a fair portion have a university degree prior.
>>60561475
There's a former Army and YPG anon that lurks once in awhile, he never complained
And by the way mate, expensive or not, a bullet flying at you will kill you, an IED will kill you.
And this coming from a fucking bong?
When will the French military change their camouflage. They are still using 80s stuff
>>60561515
We are more strict than ever in recruiting now, 3/4 of Americans 18-34 are not qualified to enlist.
>>60561359
They aren't ideological? What reasons do they give for the life they chose then? Have you met any ideological ones?
They have family in the taliban? How does that work?
>>60561475
there's norwegians and other countries among the kurds though.
iunno, they are openly fighting for better things IE cultural survival and so-on so its easier to want to fight for them.

>>60561442
He's extremely intelligent and a natural born leader, so I'm assuming he is in whatever is good
>>60561540
yeah that's good. i was watching restrepo and i was pretty stunned how ignorant most of them are.
the attitude you get from canadians is markably different, ie less ignorant and outrightly bigoted. for example they don't talk about serbs or afghans negatively, only that they were really there to help the people.
>>60561553
Not even a little. My friend who was an army ranger says that the camo they were works extremely well but the 80s stuff was shit
>>60561520
Probably Matson he posts everywhere.
One of the cases was documented by a news crew. A marine who was in - I believe - Iraq went all the way there only to quit after getting in a grand total of one firefight. Please don't pretend that fighting against a militia using their grandfather's AKs with the backing of an obscenely bloated and cutting edge military is remotely the same as fighting in an underequipped ramshackle Kurdish militia against an army that looted half the military bases in Iraq.

>>60561586
It's an odd thing, really
Some of the men I worked with, both in the Army and in the Legion, were extremely intelligent
Some of the men were absolute fucking retards that probably couldn't spell the name of the country we were in. And on the topic of foreigners, as much shit as I gave the ANA, some of them really did want their country to be better, and I do respect them for that.
Really, I always felt bad for the kids in conflicts. I'll never forget the first time Afghani kids strolled up to our patrol, myself being a cherry, I thought we were about to be blown the fuck up, and they just asked for candy and water.
>>60561569
I'd hope so, Americans are treated like shit until we prove ourselves in the Legion. They give you a list of regiments you want to go to, and you number them from most wanted to least wanted. Though you're assigned a regiment at random in reality, they take the list and throw it in the garbage for everyone, unless you're one of the top 4-5 men in Castelnaudry, who get to choose what regiment they go to. I was fortunate enough to be in the top few, so I went to 2REP.
>>60561463
Yeah there's gotta be some in there who hate the Taliban, but other ones are Islamic fundamentalists themselves. There's also a bit of a wave of patriotism hitting the more developed parts of Afghanistan so maybe that helps.
I just signed up as infantry and I was pretty good at it and ended up getting into recon platoon. We weren't specifically trained to work with the ANA, we really just turned up and had to make it work. Like we'd go on patrol and it'd be me and four other Aussies along with 12 or so Afghan soldiers and we'd just get shit done. The idea was they'd watch and learn more than anything else.
>>60561545
Mate very few people go to war thinking they are going to die. "It won't happen to me" kind of thing. I guess a lot of them were the same as us, it's a bit of an adventure, make some money and have a good time with mates being the idea.
As for having family in the Taliban, it's pretty simple and just like I described it. It's not like over here where we see them as good guys and bad guys. I mean even we would have Taliban coming to our base to join in a shura (meeting) with local leaders and we wouldn't give a shit, we'd just give them an extra big smile.
This is the caliber or recruit the FFL gets.
American military rejects.

I'm a former Legionnaire and Army Infantryman.
The US Army has used
M81 Woodland
UCP
OCP
The Legion has used
CE
CE-mountain
And that's it
The CE works amazingly well, I have first hand experience with it. Fuckers who wore it disappeared thirty feet into the jungle or woods.
The mountain/desert shit is honestly the most well researched camouflage I've ever had the pleasure of seeing in use, though I never wore it myself.
The US Army's camouflage, UCP which is still the primary camouflage, is absolute fucking garbage. It only blends in once it's covered in sand and dust, and even then only in rocky areas. Think gravel. The new shit, OCP, works better, but I haven't seen it first hand so I'm not certain how much.
And wait, why do you think a Ranger has experience with French camouflage? You know French CE and US M81 Woodland are different, right anon?
>>60561713

I was in both of them.

>>60561806
Haha it's just a fucked up place. I remember at some point we had these local security contractors taking up positions in the valley because the government was trying to build a road. The Taliban would fucking wail on them, poor fuckers were getting carved up and literally overrun and beheaded once. Anyway sometimes they would just shout at each other to stop shooting, meet in the middle and have tea with each other and discuss some new rules, then go back to it. Kinda nice actually.

I was pissed, he almost fucking killed me lmfao

French shit is harder to come by in the US, I haven't ever even seen any of it beyond a blouse and boots for sale anywhere. But that's weird, I've never heard of it not functioning. Unless he's in somewhere that's mostly dead, or sandy/dusty
>>60561943
Well, I don't know.
When I joined the Army, I was 18, and still in high school. I knew early it was my calling, and went for it.
After 6 years and spending more of my adult life in a desert than not, I ETSd and was at a standstill. Well, being 24 and not knowing what the fuck I wanted, I dicked around for a couple years, working a shitty job, and building on my PT standards, and learning more French.
I was about 26 when I went to join the Legion, I barely even remember it at this point. I'm an oldfag now, turning 33 in January, and I have to say I'm a lot better off now for fighting. I think I'm much more mature and collected, though I did miss out on love and college parties and all the other shit people my age did, which I sometimes regret. My grandmother gives me shit for it every time I talk to her, she always wanted grandkids, she's pretty upset that I'm not going to be able to give her any.

>>60561936
Haha classic. On a similar note, there was this kid (probably about 12) who lived within sight of our base and would always give us the finger across the throat gesture and throw rocks at us. Anyway one time we get ambushed, somebody runs between enemy positions and one of our guys drops him, whatever they stop shooting and we continue on back to base. Ten minutes later, up comes some locals with that kid in a wheelbarrow, shot through the leg. We treat him pretty well, joke around with him and show him cool equipment because we're bored as fuck. After that he loved us and would come back to us to check his wound was healing up. Definitely a weird country, I miss it as well...

>>60562236
Most are physically decent but not great. That can be fixed with exercise though. Mentally most are not motivated to serve, because today's society is based on individualism and comfort. Most people also don't follow the news or know, what Russia is doing. Not that most medias even tell, because they are too busy writing about celebrities. All in all this multiculturalism and liberalism is eating away the spine of the western countries.
>>60562271
There's a job for everyone, so bad physical health is not an excuse. If anything, the service would be a good thing for those fatties. When I was serving, I read that some legally blind guy was doing his service at some other place, because he had insisted that he wanted to do his part, so there really are no excuses.

The foreign, with the exception of some regiments which are special forces, trains just like the rest. Only the initial training is tougher.
The Foreign Legion does not accept blood criminals. Lying on your criminal past will get you kicked out. Access to your past records is very limited, which is a difference with the regular units.
Also, a criminal past is a motive to reject an applicant, even if it can be tolerated.
>>60562599

I was on maneuvers with American Army in Canada. back then...I'm old.
The Army is full of American clishee loosers. They behave like highschool kids from TV shows. And everyone is a racial prototype. Whites are all prison-nazi style, blacks are all gangsterstyle, &c.
It's hilarious.
Also your troops cheated. The Americans setup the training gear to make the Tanks-hit-indicators react to machinegun fire....there fore all the camouflage and ambushing was useless as a jeeps firing randomly into woods did cover-up all positions.
>>60562317
The military is heavily intervened with the rest of society and only rats and neets can claim otherwise since they're not part of either. Former commander of the FDF gustav hägglund went as far as to call funland the last warrior society in europe in his book do to how essentially the entire male population has a military training and how much the military affects the national culture in general.

No legion units are officially SF, but the 2ème REP, is considered equally trained for SF operations.
The 3eme REIis considered one of the hardest regiments in the French Army.
btw my grandfather served in the 1er BEP, and 1er REP from its beginning until its end (he also was in Suez in the same unit as far-right politician Le Pen).
>>60556922
GCPare commando units from light infantry regiments, usually hussards or airborne regiments. They are no special forces per se.
The 2eme REP is the only one in the Legion to have one.

Malawi and Uganda are where it's at. Malawi is pretty poor, but it has some nice spots on the lake where plenty of backpackers go. It is super cheap and also has world class ganja, so you can just chill out happily long term.
Uganda is a bit more developed and has a decent sized middle class, so you can have more fun with locals. Like you can find good local girls to have flings with who are probably actually richer than you are. Kampala is a pretty fun city, and there are some beautiful other places around the country.

>>60562588
You probably think special forces are only muscular white men from COD games with an H&K 416 in the place of their penis but that's only the other half of the story. Nowadays a special forces soldier is a smart guy first and foremost, because physical fitness can easily be improved. Universities are a great place to recruit. It doesn't matter whether they are part of the army, navy or military at all. The only distinguishing characteristic they have is that they are given objectives that others can't accomplish. Even special operations aren't aren't all about guns and shooting.
>>60562317
The current system is widely supported even if all conscripts don't like the service. It's seen as a necessity and tradition. Left-wing naturally opposes it.

I don't think special forces anywhere recruit from universities.
Tbh most sof operators are just infantry quality guys who can pass a few more tests, have their complete high school certificate, and are tough enough to pass the selection courses.
Inteligence agencies recruit from universities however.

I do kinda like the idea of smoking lots of choof in Malawi

It's a pretty good life. Spend the days getting high with hot German girls, wander around the villages stoned eating random shit in huts, drink local rum with some people on the beach with a campfire at night getting stoned again etc.

One problem is that many don't differentiate special from elite. The old definition of special forces doesn't work well anymore. And practices of course vary from country to country. The traditional elite warrior hasn't disappeared but there is more variety in special forces nowadays. Maybe recruiting is a bit wrong word, because the people I'm talking about are hand picked and offered a job instead of being handed a flyer that tells about the physical requirements and all the women you will get with your upcoming SF status. Basically they are not seen or heard in the public, because you can't apply to SF just by being a nerd in some uni. The people who need you will come to you instead of the other way around.

We were major pussies in WWI, but we did quite a bit of bleeding in WWII. Truthfully, we didn't contribute mass casualties in WWII compared to the European nations who were literally fighting to defend their national existence. This doesn't mean we didn't largely contribute to saving the day in on the western front. It was just done via weapons exports, support, material donations and sheer numerical force. Just because we didn't have as depressing of a loss to victory ratio during the war as the Soviets or Brits doesn't mean our input was irrelevant. Despite the general American population being totally unaffected by the day to day sufferings of the average Euro, the general public did believe in the causes of the Allied European front and a lot of Americans died to prevent the wholesale slaughter of large swathes of the European population. It's pretty crap to disparage American input when we simply could have just focused our attention on fighting the Japanese and ignored Europe as a whole and let the Soviets dominate the continent.
>people talking about how millions of their countrymen died as if it's a fucking achievement
Why would any member of the military admit to being weaker than another military.
Even members of different branches of the same military boast being better than other branches.
I had some marine try to boast about how they train harder than the army when his military occupation was a fucking pencil pusher

From what I've read about thr legion's training it's only slightly more difficult then regular Israeli infantry's training, and a joke compared to Seals or Israeli commando training

Israel probably takes their armed forces a little more seriously than France. Worst-case scenario for the latter is being forced to buy uranium at full market prices.
>>60564803
>being forced to buy uranium at full market prices
sounds awful
no one will tell you this, but the Navy Seals were inspired and even at some point trained by Italian Com.Sub.In
>>60564803
I don't think so, if you'll think about it you'll realize that it's extremely hard to maintain democracy, conscription and high discipline all together, any combination of 2 negates the third.

Annnnnnnnd we were bloody pussies during WWII and fucking warriors during WWI

You were in a shit frat then. When we throw closed parties we literally, LITERALLY have five girls for every guy. We get more girls than we can handle.
Open public parties we keep the ratio 50/50
