I saw the comment section only once before. Thats a literal shit site where defensive/dropout/negative weebs and gaijins always shit on anything about Japan on the comment section. I wont say they are making all of their shit up but definitely massively exaggerating and as shitty and delusional as they come.
Also the media seems to think they themselves are a kind of topnotch English internet media in Japan but its far away from the reality. In fact they are practically a tabloid/yellow journalism and arent even popular among Japanese.
Even if it got popular, still no one would care about it due to the super low quality articles and writers.

Hi I went to Japan for 2 months I travelled solo with bad Japanese and people were friendly and welcoming. I tried to avoid places where Japanese language would be needed (like no english menu/pictures). I don't know where the racism thing comes from, there are more places in London that I feel unwelcome in than when I was in Japan...
The second month i was with a foreign friend who spoke good Japanese and had some nip friends, they were different to us in a way but were nice people and were a great laugh like anyone is after some drinks. Always going a step above honestly... so yeh Japanese people are cool.

i dont know much about them 2bh but i figure most of them are so called netoouyos and some otakus and college students who are somewhat nerdy. netouyos are egoistic self respect superficial patriot retards and really uneducated, in a word they are full of "esteem needs".
so they always want to see "glorious nippon" trash weebs worship or gaijins appreciate and anything like that in the easiest way, staying in their rooms as social awkwardly but greedy autists.

been in Japan twice, always had great times, they're helpful and polite and can be fun when they have a few drink.
But yes, the langage barrier is pretty big, so when they don't speak english and i only speak a few word of japanese well... it's hard to be true friends, indeed.
