any tips on learning chinese?
i tried rosetta stone and am currently downloading some of the books in the sticky, but maybe somebody can tell me what websites/books/program he used while learning?
rosetta so far has only been memorizing sentences i dont even know the translation of.
also is it very hard to learn mandarin after studying cantonese and vice versa? or is it something like learning american english after studying british english?

any books you guys would recommend? is rosetta stone really THAT bad? it helped me a lot with spanish but, as the wiki said, is so far pretty bad with chinese or anything else that does not use western characters.
