I grew up in the 80's/early 90's. Back then we had cable and watched american cartoons. I'm not sure exactly how i learned it but i was fluent before we started learning it in third grade.

English and norwegian is very similar. Even more similar than norwegian and german. Same word order, same grammar and even many of the same words so it is very easy to pick up for us.

French is closer to Spanish than to English, I just had bad teachers with bad methods.
Most of the time in Spanish, sometimes I think in English.

Nigga how do you find the time?
>>
1. Easy to find stuff only online if you speak english, the amount of media and content in english is amazing. Also, to work as a programmer, english is a must.
2. When I was around 18yo (8 years ago) I decided to take it serious
3. I hated it in middle and high school, but I grew to love it after adult
4. Nah, I've had english classes in school since I was 8, but I only started getting interesting in it when I was 18 like I said before. The basic structure of english is not that far from portuguese
5. That's about it

It's not that difficult for me, desu senpai. Dutch is my native tongue, so that's obviously a given. English has basically been ingrained into my brain by now and I live pretty close to the German border, so I also get plenty of opportunities to speak Deutsch. The lack of moments where I can actually speak French or Japanese are obviously the reasons why my French is extremely rusty and why I failed so hard at studying Japanese (protip: just doing the exercises from Genki on your own is not a proper substitute for having actual conversations).
It's also probably worth mentioning that in the Netherlands, French and German are required subjects in secondary education (that's equivalent to American and Canadian middle + high school, right?).

>1. Why did you learn English?
To play pic related, among other things..
>2. When?
Starting from age 4 or 5 or something I guess. Basically from the first time I ever used the 386 DOS/Win3.14 crossboot PC my mom set up for me.
>3. Do you like it?
What's to like or dislike? It's a very decent skill to have, not to say invaluable..
>4. Was it hard/easy for you?
It went very gradual and naturally, so very easy. I can't remember ever putting a serious effort into it.. I mostly just learned because I wanted to play my vidya. Subtitled cartoons and movies also helped a lot.
>5. What other languages do you speak?
Dutch and a bit of German.. I can understand German fairly well. Also a tiny bit of French, basically just enough to ask for directions and buy things.
