I can't really recommend any books yet, as the research is all very new. You'll find everything in academic journals between around 2000 and now.
The best way to read up, is on the basics using a site like eupedia, and there you will find the abstracts and links to full articles of the ones that interest you.
(there is very little to find on France btw, due to the legislation. tricks have to be used like testing for genetic anomalities/disease and also recording the haplogroup&subtypes)
Most academic journals are not free, but there are ways to obtain the article for free. I can help you with this if you are interested.

I made a couple of things, a picture here and a 3D model there, all "intellectual property", they're all available for free somewhere on the internet and I wouldn't have it any other way, but if I (alone or as a part of a team) spent a lot of time creating something more complex, as complex as a computer game and then decided that I'm going to ask money for it, because I feel like I deserve it (to cover the costs of the project and possible future projects, to motivate myself), I would prefer if people paid the money if they were to use my stuff.
And it would damn well feel like I was being stolen from if people didn't pay and that's all that matters.

Pirated games are usually bought before they are cracked. You actually COULD claim that the guy who buys a legitimate copy and then makes it freely distributable is a thief, since he's breaking a contractual obligation he has to not reproduce the game.
