美しゅうございます is truly correct phrase, but 美しいです is common.
In early showa era, the former is standard language, but that expression is hard for common people, and they used the latter by mistake.
The government confirmed the way of expression later.
Originally, "ます" is used for 用言(verbs and adjectives as Japanese grammer words) and "です" is used for 体言(nouns).
Therefore the latter is uncomfortable slightly, but it is correct.

Think of the case of honorific language, that is understandable.
In the case of honorific language, ambiguous expressions are not admitted.
And the sentence that is omitted implicit should change into complete expressions.
"美しく存じます/美しゅう存じます" is correct, but many people feels uncomfortable a little probably.
In consequence, that will probably be changed into other expression for example "美しい印象を頂きました" and so on.
Though, the more that changes into correct Japanese language, the more unnatural.
In conclusion, It follows that an impolite expression is natural.
This is a problem of Japanese language today.
And, in other words, honorific language is not grammar but the way of expressions.
