Táim anseo. You've heard correct, but the courses are divided into level 8s and level 7s. However, if you're doing a level 8 - you can graduate with a L7 at year 3. And (I think) if you're doing a level 7, you can stay on providing there's space in the L8 course.

Just to clarify: I can apply, to my desired course, at a 3 year Level 7 Ordinary and then have the added option of an extra year that would provide a qualification of a Level 8 Honours?
Sorry, this is all just very confusing to me as I just found out about it. Thank you for the help though. It is much appreciated. :)

I think you'd want to email the head of whatever dept. you're applying to. It's one of those things that may differ from college to college.
I'd say that you could provided your grades are up to scratch and there's space in the coming semester.
