Scottish accents aren't that scary. Edinburgh one is quite inviting, Posh Glasgow is pleasant to hear, Poor Glasgow is just downright hilarious. Up past the forth you get the true, deep Scottish that's my favourite (except from in Dundee, they somehow fucked up their accents). Haven't had much experience with Highlanders and Islanders and Border Folk though, so I can't speak for them.
