Those are official statistics, I'm not making up those numbers.

GDP per capita is not a reliable number. It'd be better to compare GDP PPP per capita, which also takes into account local purchasing power. In this measure Argentina is still better positioned than Colombia.

However, there are 2 metrics that change everything dramatically: inflation and growth. Argentina has the second highest inflation in the world, while we've been in the 3-5% range for the past years.

Lastly, we've been growing at a healthy rate during the past decade, while Argentina has gone into recession and even defaulted on its debt. I really hope the outlook for your country improves with the new government.

Murder rate for Colombia is 25/100.000 while it is 26/100.000 for Brazil. You'd be slightly safer here.

Also, Hollywood has done a great job depicting us as if we lived in a Jungle. The truth is you can find jungle in the southeastern part of the country, and less than 5% of the population lives there.

The vast majority of the population lives in the Andes mountain range. For example, my city is located at 2600m above sea level with an average annual temperature of 14° (roughly the same as Milan in Italy and just a bit colder than Madrid or Rome).

>>
>>58913360
Actually, It's the other way around. Venezuelans are flodding here by the thousands.

Regarding the economy, we're currently the 3rd largest in South America after Brazil and Argentina, and projections show that we're gonna take over you soon to become the 2nd largest.

Brazil is simply too big and is unrealistic to think that any other south american nation is gonna surpass them

Take a look at this report from Price Waterhouse Coopers:

>>58913518
They're in peace talks with them in Habana and a peace deal is expected to be reached by the end of this year.
>>
>>58913984
It mostly is.

Argentina and Colombia have had roughly the same per capita growth rate.

Argentina can unlock its potential with a better government. Even Macri is only a marginal improvement.
>>
>>58913525
That is due to the exchange rate. Why don't you take a look at GDP PPP, which takes care of currency volatility. Argentina used to have currency control, artificially strenghtening their currency. That's why they used to have a parallel exchange rate.
>>
>>58914026
Well the place is JUST tier right now.

In 2000-2013 it was arguably better than Colombia though.

Then Chavez died, government went full dysfunctional, and oil collapsed. Now the worst drought ever hit.

Why don't you admit the fact that our economy is bigger than yours. Venezuela has the largest oil reserves in the world and still manages to fuck everything up.

<-------- These are 2015 figures, that means they don't take into account the further economic contraction that Venezuela is gonna suffer this year and next year.

Even the IMF shows that Peru and Chile are going to take over them soon if they continue going down that path.

>trusting americans to get rid of your internal problems

Definitely a bad idea desu.
>>
>>58916920
I wasn't sure what the date was, but just 3 years ago Venezuela was larger.

The argument started as if Colombia would overtake Argentina, and that's simply not happening.
>>
so we can all agree: no more cocaine for the colombian
>>
>>58917008
why?

americans are our best allied.
we're ideologically, politically, economically very aligned with americans.

anything can happen.

We need still to see how much GDP will the weed industry increase ours.

It's been said that there's no other country right now to take our spot at weed production.
>>
>>58917107

Well, it's very well known that they make things worse than actually fix it when they interfere on other cunts problems. Like now with those peace talks. Plus you're just giving them money instead of actually developing your own military industry. My opinion tho, i think Colombia is pretty capable to fix that problem alone.
>>
>>58917107
We are your allies so that you will stop selling us billions of grams of cocaine each year. Nothing more.
>>
>It's the "colombia economy is better than poorgentina" poster again

This is why people don't take our bantz seriously. This faggot keeps spamming this on /lat/ every fucking day, he's just as bad as canadians
>>

Colombia is not gonna surpass Argentina just yet, but it'll happen eventually.

We did it in 2014, but they regained their spot. Off course, we'll reclaim it to become the third largest economy in LATAM after Brazil and Mexico Read the first paragraph of this article:

if you look at our situation before the plan colombia, like in 1998, the FARC were already controlling city centers in the jungle.

It was with american weapons and american dollars and training that uribe was able to take down some FARC leaders and make them retreat.

>we're ideologically, politically, economically very aligned with Unitedstasians.

not at all, not more than any other country. ideologically the U.S. is very sui generis.

>>58917236
it's the XXI century, all countries cooperate with each other on different terms. several countries have military bases all over the World (not in colombia tho').

I mean, I'm saying compared to the rest of nations.
when all latinoamerica follows basically socialism, we came as the most american simply because of free trade and capitalism.

there's no secret there.

>4chan
I dunno, I think is a fun page to waste time and say dumb shit.
I can't simply shitpost on my facebook saying the same shit I say here.

Plus I'm waiting to enter college, so I have free time.
You seem to believe all those memes of mine are true, right?
they seem to be making new memes about me, like I'm fat and gay and zoophilic and other garbage.

>Panama is going to get rekt if the Nicaragua Canal is built.

sure, they're gonna build a 50 billion dollar canal anytime soon

our economy decelerated because of our imbecile president (completely halted 10 or so megaprojects), the new canal locks open next month and we're going to keep growing above 5% for some time

how much GDP we'll grow if cocaine farming was made legal?
>>
>>58918740
in all countries these illegal activities are part of the economy, not only Colombia.

the drug bussiness is more profitable in other countries than in here, because a trafficker or a dealer in countries like the U.S. earn much more than our coca farmers.
>>
>>58918871
yeah, but making them legal, will give us taxes and all that shit, even foreign investors.
>>
>>58910832
>Cehia
>Hungary
>Romania
>"Middle"-powers
>>
>>58918740
I don't really know and personally don't give a damn. But I'm sure we'd be a freaking superpower if that shit were legal.
>>
>>58919218
I dunno man, colombian can be a fucking agricultural superpower if the state didn't have forgotten the farmers since forever.

we can harvest food all year.
It's a fucking insult our farmers have to make strikes.
>>
>>58918939
>>58918740

ive already said this, colombian gov should allow it for research, then come with a product that has acceptable levels of addiction for public consumption (similar to caffeine or nicotine), then make it legal.

not only for the growth, but most importantly, farmers will be kept occupied with this safe profitable product (itll be more profitable because its legal) effectively eliminating the problem from root. nearby coca producer countries could join.
