Sorry lads, yesterday I attended the memorial ceremony for obvious reasons, but today I honestly don't have much to celebrate anymore. I have enormous respect for the people who traveled from the other side of the world to help us out at that time, but in the end I have to admit that their fight and their death was pointless.

My grandfather from my fathers side spent 2,5 years living in a little dug out basement up in Frisia/Friesland, underneath a relatives farm.
He's originally from The Hague and worked for a company that supplied people with false papers so they could flee to Britiain.
He wasn't personally involved but was in the know.
So when the Germans came he managed to escape the building and fled.
Never really got to know him, he died when I was around 7/8 years old and couldn't speak/walk because of a brain hemorrhage.
My grandmother doesn't like to talk about it, or about the war in general.
Anyways thanks Canada, someday I'll visit your country and leave some flowers or something as thanks.
