The Netherlands has defeaten many invasions by the French, English and Germans. We even defended against an invasion by all three at the same time.
We only got occupied twice in our history for a handful of years. Once by Napoleon (who got his Waterloo against us). And once by Hitler, who was defeaten by Canadians.
