I want to learn speaking english with an american accent, boys.
However, i discovered that there is more, than just one typical yankee accent.

Are they that much different? Which one should i get?
>>
>>58829626
western accent
>>
>>58829626
>Are they that much different?
Yes. Consider the range of European accents. It's just like that, but all in english.

I'd say go Southern or Canadian 2bh, northeastern accents make you sound like a tool (don't even get me started on the sackless cunts in New Jersey) and Western is just the boring stereotypical American accent

Ah the European accents, of the ancient old European language that is spoken in most of Europe.

Minnesotan here, not really. A few people I know do have a hint of a Canadian accent though, such as pronouncing about as "aboot"
>>

You're a fucking idiot

The British isles alone has a far more diverse range of accents than the united states
>>
keep your accent, american grills love european accents
>>
>>58830008
uuuuuuuhhh nah

The UK fits in 3 or 4 us states of average size. Don't kid yourself, it's not big enough to have that much of a range unless you count immigrant accents.

midwest, but honestly most accents except south sound the same
>>
>Bayou accent
Literally nobody here calls it that
Also I get that it's a simplified map and all but accents in Southern Louisiana are extremely variable: some places sound like French, others sound like Mississippi, and some (like my area) just sound like a standard slightly Southern drawl. Depends on city, region, and even the street you live on at times. For instance, people east of Louisiana Avenue say "pen" the same as "pin", whereas people West of it say "pin" and "pen" differently.
>>
>>58830216
The Southern accent is something you cant learn. It is something you are raised to speak. A fake Texan accent is obvious. Hank Hill has a Texan accent.
>>
>>58829626
Midwest and Western are pretty similar, but there are some noticeable differences

I disagree. I lived in Texas for a while, I can do a pretty convincing howdy y'all. Maybe an "I'm fixin' myself a sandwich" too. Stuff I heard a lot.

An accent should be the last priority when learning a language.

Focus on just a solid mastery of the language and no one will care if you sound polish. Honestly, American women love a European accent if the man is fluent.

So what? It doesn't mean their accent is worth learning. British English is and will continue to be the model for foreigners. It's the version all EU members learn.

If you're intentionally trying to acquire an American accent you're going to sound ridiculous. The British accent just sounds better on non-native speakers.

I agree that British English sounds better but it's not exclusively taught in Europe. In fact, in France at least a lot of students do their final year learning specifically American English. Travelling around Europe you hear a lot more locals speaking with American intonation than British.
>>
>>58829788

why do English speakers have such a hard-on for accents

when I was working with Americans I could literally utter whatever when meeting them the first time as their first reactions would always be "HUH NICE ACCENT" instead of fucking replying to whatever question I asked
>>
Look if you're a foreigner and you speak anything other than a Western, California accent, you're going to look like a poser. Western accent is the standard TV English that's on all TV, and movies unless the characters are specifically located in areas that have different accents. Because of this ita the accent everyone knows and pretty much the default. If you say you're from Poland in a southern, Midwestern, new Yorker, etc accent, you're going to sound like an idiot.

>TL;Dr: if you don't want to come across as a massive poser, learn the accent that's in media.
