fast forward to this day, all former soviet republics except for /balt/ have less than half the GDP per capita of Russia, even though they were money drains for the USSR and even with vast amounts of natural resources. If Gorbachev wasn't an absolute moron the USSR could transition to state-capitalism like China and become the number 1 super power in the world
