I was working full time as a mechanic one Summer in a coastal zone, my job was helping repair ships n sea stuff. I had my house at a few km and I would go back there every day at diner time between 1 - 2:30 PM, force-feed myself and quickly sleep for 30-45 mins right before having to go back to work. As a result was I was extremely more concentrated during the afternoon and all the damage done by standing out there in the floating platform under the infernal heat would wear off after that half an hour of rest.

It's funny. I usually read 15-20 books a year (which is less than two books a month, so not big deal) and it's a lot more than the national average. Here people who read frequently are usually educated people, but it's not that common in working class families (whose members may read a couple of books a year). People who read are not mocked, of course, but it's not that common as I said. Also, speaking a second language is regarded as something admirable by most older people (and when I say older I mean >40, not the elderly). It's incredible how much our cultures differ when it comes to education :(
