Western Europeans tend to lump together everything on the other side of the former Iron Curtain. Even though Czech rep. is barely more 'eastern' than Berlin, Bratislava is only 50km or so from Vienna and Slovenia is culturally more similar to Northern Italy or Austria; people here still consider all of you to be bydlo trash in some frozen Belorussian industrial hellhole.
