This, American cities all have too much urban sprawl to get the sort of look OP is asking for.

All those beautiful beta particles and radiation.
Nairobi has a nature reserve in it. It's not the most modern city though, there's a ton of slum dwellers outside of the staged photos.

The good parts of Nairobi don't actually look that bad. I wish the country was more developed because the scenery is so beautiful, it'd be nice to live in it.
Those American cities surrounded by mountains are beautiful.

Is São Paulo a Latin version of Japan?

The basic topology reminds me of my hometown. Hills, human block, main road alongside. Now that I check there is even a river alongside, but my home river is basically the most famous river in the country.

correct.
Fun fact: In radio and broadcasting generally, when you have some station with a call sign like "WINO", or "KROC" or "WNPR" or "WFOX" etc. the Mississippi is used as the dividing line between "K's" and "W's". Generally, stations west of the Mississippi start with "K", and stations east of it start with "W". So it's backwards in a way.

Manaus, the city is literally surrounded by the Amazon Rainforest
