This was after they had invaded US, by the way. While we were fighting off Russia way in the east, they tried to invade us from the west. And we bitchslapped them so hard that they literally begged us to stop, and they just gave us half their kingdom. Later, they also offered us Greenland and Iceland, in the same breath as we made sure Norway never had a Danish king again... But we didn't want those shitty rocks.

Danish was a much more practical language. The Faroese written language is less than 200 years old because 3,000-5,000 peasants in the middle of nowhere didn't need their own governmental language.
