This is the most generic, widely spoken form of English in the world. It isn't interesting, it isn't exotic, it isn't cool. I want to have flavour in my voice.
I could go deep for a moose fucker accent, but they sound silly. I've always been a trans-atlantic type of person. I like a lot of stuff from both sides of the Atlantic. I wish I could incorporate elements of the UK and the US/Canada into my voice, because that's most of what I hear.

I get what you're saying, but accent envy is more of a North-American thing. It doesn't happen the other way around. It's a generic, homogeneous accent from a non-place. People like variety, and that's always why regional and foreign accents are seen as characterful.
In the UK, the Standard British English accent is probably seen exactly the same.
