So I'm in the process of learning Russian at the moment, pretty basic at the moment. I'm just doing as much Duolingo as I get time for and watching some YouTube learning videos and taking notes. So far I've got the alphabet 80% learnt but still working on learning phrases and pronunciation.
Could you guys maybe suggest some interesting videos that use simple Russian language and have English subtitles? Maybe even some children's cartoons or something just so I can get used to hearing the language?
Any tips at all for learning the language would help, this is my first time learning a language other than English and it's pretty enjoyable so far (haven't even skimmed the surface either).

There's literally less than 50 000 people who speak Russian fluently in our whole country, you'd be lucky to come across one who fits our demographic. I'm in the same boat though, fascinated by the culture that seems to be such a hush topic in Western culture. Not to mention I just love the look of the Cyrillic alphabet and the way Russian sounds.

Each language has different tips in learning it. Whan i was a kid i played lot of rpg games with english sound and russian subtitles, it helps a lot. I'm afraid I can't reccomend a specific book, but if I were you you I'd try Russian Assimil (mingled with the German version for a little bit, and finished the French one - both were pretty good). But Assimil doesn't have lots of grammar, so you should also get any good grammar dictionary or a textbook to use for reference.
