Flemish were only allowed to get Dutch in school since 1967.
100 years ago, Brussels was 80% Dutch speaking, but then Walloon socialists started importing French speaking shitskins there just to make the city Frenchspeaking. Now it is only 20% Dutch speaking.

They did in the XXth century and it's not a trauma the Flemish have discarded easily. The walloonians owned all the industry and almost had the flemish enslaved to them, and no one cared for the Flemish (the king didn't even care to learn the language).
