As a total number, tornadoes are more common in the United States than in any other nation. Australia is considered the runner-up, with nations such as India, Germany, Russia and the United Kingdom also the sites of many tornadoes each year. One of the worst months for US tornado activity was May 2003. During that month, 543 tornadoes were reported in the US, with the majority in the Midwest and the Deep South

Tornadoes aren't that bad desu. The siren goes off you go to the basement. Nobody does that but that's what you are suppose to do.
Tornadoes are loud as shit and mainly target mobile homes. Even in places where Tornadoes are common you only get 1-2 a year on average and they usually don't destroy anything except trailers or the odd building here and there

Zone IV here.

Last time we got hit by a tornado was like 6 years ago and all it did was fuck up some power lines.

What if you're out walking in the woods, are you pretty much dead?
>>
>>58237788
>be American
>get blown
>>
>tfw in a "special wind region" outside of the tornado zone
What does it mean?
>>
>>58238751
If you are out walking in the woods during a storm that is bad enough to cause a tornado that's just natural selection bby
>>
If you're wondering why we have so many tornadoes, it's because of cold and dry air from the north pole colliding with warm and moist air from the gulf of Mexico over an extremely flag region.

A tornado hit my house this year lmao. All it did was uproot a tree and scatter branches everywhere. House was fine.
>>
>>58238751
Don't go out for a walk during a severe thunderstorm, would be a good preventative measure.
>>
I consider earthquakes and hurricanes way more dangerous then tornadoes.
>>
>>58238964
Tornadoes are my biggest fear
>>
>>58239103
This. Tornadoes are just more random then hurricanes but don't cause nearly as much damage.
>>
>>58239103
Earthquakes are worse, as they come with no warning at all.
>>
>>58239103
This, especially earthquakes. A big hole just comes from nowhere and you fall into the earth.
>>
>>58239238
yeah they do, when we see ur mum falling we know to get under something
>>
>>58237788
My town got wrecked by a tornado it leveled everything 3 houses down from me. And I live in New England
>>
>>58237788
Zone 3 (Upper Midwest) here.
Tornadoes are scary. You just bunker down in your basement and hope for the best when you hear the siren. Likelihood of it hitting your house is small though.
>>
>>58239238
Tornadoes are scarier, I've been in a few earthquakes they are just cool
>>
I live in a 'Zone 3' and I've never had a tornado in my life

Can a tornado rip up a house made with bricks and mortar or do they only rip up those american cardboard boxes they call houses?

South American earthquakes are hardcore but seeing this come at me would make me shit my pants. far more terrifying
>>
>>58239585
The majority of the US is fucked if there's ever a large earthquake. California and some other seismically active areas have prepared, and there are new building codes elsewhere, but most cities have tons of non reinforced masonry and old construction that will most certainly collapse.
>>
>>58239697
There are plenty of brick houses in America. I have no idea where this meme came from. And whether a tornado can destroy a brick house depends on how strong it is. My house has been hit by multiple tornados.

Get out you fool. Don't play games with your life.
>>
>>58239882
I think F3+ can destroy any free-standing structure that isn't built with something like reinforced concrete.
>>
>>58239971
It's been over years though.

Pretty much. This guy on quora seems to know what he's talking about

I don't want it, keep your tornadoey death alley
>>
>Tornados

I'd rather have tornados than the fucking hurricanes we get every year on the east coast.
>>
>>58241548
hurricanes are nonsense. How can that shit hurt someone? Strong wind and rain? gtfo
>>
>tfw no tornadoes, earthquakes, extreme weather, flat land all the way up north and pretty much every part of the country looks the same
just fuck my boring shit up senpai
>>
>>58241984
>tfw no tonadoes, earthquakes, extreme weather, just flat land everywhere, no real winter
even suicidal people and hobos have hard time dying here.
