it would have been a success if the pasha leading the siege wasn't selfish and wanted personal glory and delayed the conclusion of the siege (the walls were breached, soldiers ready to storm) to try and force a peace treaty that would grant him prestige. basically, some say he wanted personal glory over glory to the army (for fighting for it instead of the enemy just capitulating to a genious pasha) he wasted 2 weeks trying this crap which bought sobieski enough time to assemble the mentioned cavalry
