I'm half Japanese and half Chinese (American though), and I speak Japanese fluently (but I can't read nor write for shit).
Most soapland places don't allow gaijins at all. They are extremely racist and strict on that part. I passed because I was fully asian and half Japanese, and spoke with no accent. But they asked me to sign some piece of paper (it was probably just some bullshit), and I realized although I knew how to write my name in Japanese, it was my American name.
So I just told them I was Japanese American, and the guy at the front desk had to call the girl I chose and even ask her if she was okay with a Japanese American (they are that xenophobic). She was fine and everything. To be honest, she looked kinda like one of my classmates back in highschool. Was in her early 20s.
The soapland itself was pretty standard. She washes you, sits in the bath with you, then sucks your dick off, fucks you, then you get a break, with a free drink, then another round of something you want. It was nice, but afterwards I questioned why I spent this much money on this, and why I hyped up sex to be so amazing (I felt a nice endorphin release that you don't get from just fapping to hentai or some shit though)
The weird part is how the staff (all men) bowed to me and told me they hoped i enjoyed the service, and they even asked me to fill out a survey (which I could not read, but the guy pretty much forced it one me, so I gave 10/10 for everything).
The even offered to drive me back to the train station, which I declined.
Costed me 20k-30k yen, don't really remember. I was 17 at the time, so it felt really weird in the waiting room seeing 30-40 year old men (I saw 2 college students who looked like best friends who came in together..)
Another thing I remember was their was some rules stated to me at the beginning by the staff, like no violence etc, but the weird one was that I was not allowed to post anything about it on 2chan or message boards.

i've been meaning to ask about the level of the average japanese person especially in shops in touristy areas
is it actually any good or will my anime-learnt japanese be better than their school-taught
