Hitler was made chancellor in 1933 when his party became the largest in the Reichstag because it was the only way to create a stable government since the Nazis and Communists had the majority of parliament seats together.
And once he was chancellor he of course quickly ended the democracy but once he sat at the levers of power that isn't so hard to do.
