I'm not even going to try to fight that banter because it's 100% true. Downtown is pretty awful when it comes to homeless junkies being everywhere. Our police department literally pays cops a $50 bonus iirc for every homeless person they detain for any crime. The southern part of town is totally removed from all of that because it's white middle class suburb and it has everything you could want so there's no reason to ever leave. Laughlin has less than 8000 people and it's in the same area as Vegas. It's basically just a hick town. Everywhere besides Reno and Vegas are essentially hick towns. Tahoe is really great to live at if you're rich, if you're a normal person who lives there it sucks because you work for the tourist industry and there's tons of drugs and gangs among people who actually live there. If you want to be near Tahoe and live somewhere decent, move to south reno in the Damonte Ranch area

It was pretty odd, when we landed at the LAS, there were slot maschines at the airport already. I did enjoy Las Vegas for various reasons, but I couldn't handle the heat and as you said I'm not sure if I'd move there.
Pahrump seemed just depressingly empty, so I guess as you said Reno would be the best choice, but looking at my performance in the last semester my chances often making it to the US to live there are close to none existend.
