The first war was the result of interpersonal conflict between monarchs.
The second was the result of the struggle of finding replacement for the monarchy as a form of government - communism, fascism and democracy. Fascism dropped out in the war and communism after the war.
If we have a 3rd world war it would be over either liberal democracy interpretations or against something aiming to replace it.
My bet is on socialism making a comeback in Europe causing a schism with USA. Or the other way around.
