The most powerful country on the earth, defender of Democracy and Freedom, pushes equality yet remains under many religions, a multi-cultural society with amazing scientific breakthroughs, fills up almost an entire continent yet remains United under one flag, kicked Commie ass and tries its best to maintain world peace. And all of this was achieved in less than 200 years. Why is America literally the best country in the world?

They didn't want communism to spread so helping Europe become an economical powerhouse was the best thing they could do, not to mention all that delicious trade and virtual monopoly of American goods. Nations don't have friends, only interests. If it was in their best interest to eradicate Germany of the face of the earth then trust me they would've done so.
