What about the biological basis for morality?

Romney couldn't win despite appealing to more demographics than Trump. All that Trump has in his favor is he's very popular with a rapidly shrinking demographic. Trump will do worse in a general election because everyone that isn't a supporter of him generally hates him (which convinces people to vote for Hillary even if they hate her because she isn't Trump), while people were much more neutral about Romney.
>>

>>
>>57784793
>Trump v. Hillary
I can't really guesstimate good odds because both are really hated and the states that could go red or blue would be very different from previous elections, but I would put my bets on Trump.

>Trump v. Sanders
3/5 Sanders purely based on the fact that he isn't as hated as Trump (Trump and Hillary both have >50% unfavorable ratings btw) but Sanders getting the Democrat nomination is so unlikely that this probably won't even be a scenario

>Hillary v. any other Republican
The Republican could easily win because Hillary is a really shitty candidate that stays in on the virtue that she has a vag and the Democrat establishment thinks its her turn to have a go at it

>Bernie v. any other Republican
probably the Republican
>>
So, tl;dr, we're fucked on every scenario?

Donald Trump +500
Bernie Sanders +700

The memes are (thankfully) not real. Democrats have a small majority in terms of people, but the US Elections systems allowed to gain power, from what I've read.

Given that Trump is divisive even amongst Republicans, he's likely to not win. I can't wait for the big happening to fade away. Not that Hilary is better, but I'd rather have her than a proto-facist.

Actually it will be a Hillary and Cruz vying for the presidency as they are both backed by the superpacs and will give political favors to the delegates

Look how much the Democrats and Republicans hate Bernie and Trump respectively

On the Democratic side
Hillary won states and delegates with coin flips and card draws
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/coin-toss-decides-clinton-sanders-tie-iowa-precinct-article-1.2517022
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/card-draw-clinton-edge-sanders-nevada-district-article-1.2538699

On the Republican side
Billionaires, Tech ceo's and top Republican commiserate met on a island on how to stop Trump.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/aei-world-forum-donald-trump_us_56ddbd38e4b0ffe6f8ea125d

They are even giving Cruz delegates without people even voting like in Colorado or giving Cruz more delegates even when Trump won the state like Louisiana
http://www.cnn.com/2016/04/10/politics/colorado-delegates-ted-cruz-donald-trump-2016/index.html

Trump, and he won't be able to achieve anything due to a Republican-locked Congress regardless.
>>
>>57802197
He'll either win it through the primary, or he'll win it through the Republicans putting two and two together. Tossing Trump aside would alienate so many voters and guarantee a loss in the general election.

>>
>>57802296
They lose no matter what. If Trump wins, his unpopularity fucks them and if Cruz wins they run a pretty tight race with a likelihood of losing Trump voters. However, they can hold the party together if they dump Trump on the side of the road and crack down on his supporters before they get any ideas. At this point, the best they can do is consolidate their base and weather the storm until the next election. In the meantime, they'll probably have a more cooperative congress and spend a while grooming candidates so that Trump never happens again.

>>
>>57802230

This isn't entirely true. While Republicans are notoriously bad when it comes to gerrymandering for house and senate seats, Dems have strong systematic advantages in presidential elections.
>>
why do super delegates love Hillary so much? why do we even have super delegates?
>>
>>57802390
From a Republican point of view (I would be content with anybody in out field left winning, just no Democrats pls) Ted is our best bet, he doesn't have the insane unfavorablity among voters that Trump has (with the ability to pick up some of the more reasonable Trumpists who realize Hillary's threat) and Kasich's threat to tear the party asunder.
>>
>>57802230
The Democrat numerical advantage isn't remotely close enough to make the odds greater for them to just win an election, Independents are needed for that
>>
>>57802459
>>57790736

Evolution shaped our physiology, too. If we always followed what evolution dictated we would live without shoes, cars, computers and A/C. If we have no problem in ignoring nature in other instances, why is it fair to appeal to it here? Explain, please.

He might not even reach the 1237 delegates.

The next 6 contests are all closed primaries which means independents aren't allowed to vote.
He'll need like 44% of the votes in each state which he isn't going to get.
His loss in the open primary of Wisconsin literally spells doom for his campaign since he's starting to fall behind in California and Penssylvannia according to the polls.

He will get the majority of the delegates but his chances of reaching that threshold are very slim.
I wouldn't bet on him if I were you.

Thing is though is that his opposition has continued to legit destroy itself, (Cruz vs. Rubio round 3 for example,) I do agree that Trump's campaign has lost a fair bit of steam over the past few weeks, and that if there was a composite Rubio/Cruz candidate, Trump would be done, but there isn't. Yeah, the RNC can try to pull some sketchy shit now, but if they do, the establishment 100% loses their power for the next 16 years at least.

I imagine they'll half-heartedly try to rig shit for Cruz, but will ultimately decide to double-down in congress so that even if Trump gets elected, he won't be able to do jack shit except end Mexican immigration, which is already plummeting anyway.

He brought it up once back in December when she went after him and her poll numbers against Bernie tanked.
>>
>>57803547

The group with more power are the privileged ones. Typically, this is the majority. White people are the majority in the U.S. and hold more power in terms of cultural leverage and not having implicit bias directed at them. Another example is Christianity. Christian moral standards are imposed on those who don't necessarily subscribe to Christianity because a majority of the U.S. is Christian. Men also are considered privileged, as they hold a majority of the important positions in this country. It being the case that they're not the majority in terms population, they're an exception to the rule.

The Jews meme is even based on the same principles as this. Not that the Jews meme is entirely wrong, I mean it's a fact that Jews are way overrepresented in positions of power in relation to the US's entire Jewish population. Where SJWs and /pol/ come in, is that they say we should remove those in power in favor of a new system.

I know you guys hate this shit because the people who use are obnoxious, but it really is just a sociological method for sorting systems of power. Whether or not it accurately reflects reality or if there's a better system to describe the systems in place is certainly contentious.

White people are the ones on TV, in movies, they're the celebrities, they're the ones dictating the norms of the country. Of course there are people who live like shit, but the privilege model is a very structuralist approach. To account for poor white people you'd use a more individualist model. Like I said, this system is not free of issues.

>>57804240

It is about money. When group A has more money than group B, group A holds power (or privilege) over group B. Cultural and political influence are just the results of that power.

Like I said, there are other models that could be claimed as better than this one. One that really focuses on money might be better than this one.

>>57804261

>but it doesn't fucking matter who's majority

Did I not make this clear in my post. I pointed out men and Jews as clear counterexamples to the point your refuting.

>Privileged is probably a big deal in countries where inequality is rampant

Whether it's a big deal is another question entirely. This model just points out where it exists.

>everyone has the same rights in America

This isn't true, but that's not what we're talking about here. We're talking about power.

>Women actually technically have more rights

They have more rights in certain areas, but again we're talking about power.

>Your failure in life isn't the fault of the majority.

Entirely different matter. If you want to look at the privilege model and extrapolate that, go ahead. You can also draw the claim that niggers are stupid and put themselves in a position to have power lorded over them.

It's not that the polls have been inaccurate this election - it's been the pundits saying to ignore the polls that have been inaccurate. And if you ignore the pundits and just look at polls, Trump's in big trouble (-35 favorability in his own state). its foolish to suggest she isnt favored but its also not by a landslide. The decline in the past month is thought to be entirely caused by Cruz and Trump focusing on attacking each other. a 10% lead is far from insurmountable especially this long from November

Is 46 higher than 50 now?

Also "the polls don't mean anything" is the same things pundits said in August when Trump was winning. Turns out the polls were smarter than the pundits then - do you think the pundits are going to win round 2?

He 100% will, problem is his supporters won't, sure, /pol/'s delusions that they'll support Trump are wrong, but the bottom line is they won't turn out for anyone, which given the abysmal turnout ratings that the Dems are already having pretty much guarantees that even Cruz could beat Clinton.

It boggles the mind that the Dem establishment has shilled for Clinton when Bernie could have won them the election. Shillary is the least electable candidate since fucking John McCain. She straight up refused to debate Bernie in New York because he didn't suck enough of Hillary's dick in his rhetoric, it's absurd.

There are seriously still people who don't know that primary turnout is completely uncorrelated with general election turnout? I thought everyone knew that. In the last 6 elections where both parties had competitive primaries, the side with more turnout won 3 times. Primary turnout is as good a predictor as flipping a coin.

Trump has maybe a 5% chance of actually winning the presidency, mostly because he keeps throwing tantrums and talking shit about everyone, which is severely costing him.

Cruz right now has maybe a 50% chance of winning the Rep primary, but if he does win then I'd estimate he has a 60% chance against Hillary and maybe a 50% chance against Bernie.

Sanders, like Cruz, has about a 50% chance to win the primary, but if he's against Trump then his chances of becoming president are very good, around the same as Hillary.

Hillary will completely demolish Trump and has about a 95% chance of beating him.

None of it really matters because they'll all get very little done if they're elected.

People don't know Kasich well enough yet. He was a managing director at Lehman Brothers in 2008, and while there were many of them (700ish IIRC), it's still a pretty high-level position.

yep, no ID is needed to vote in America. You're welcome to take a plane here and vote because there's no way they're legally allowed to prove you're not a US citizen.

That's a separate issue though, we have that debate every now and then but no ID required. It's complicated constitutionally. Say you lost your ID the day before the election, can you be barred from voting?

>Say you lost your ID the day before the election, can you be barred from voting?
USA has no standard form of ID therefore multiple types are generally accepted
state issued ID, license, passport, birth certificate, social security card, and bill in your name
>>
>>57807436
Think about how convenient different forms of electoral shenanigans would be. To shift an election with in person voter fraud, you have to pay for the transportation costs of thousands of people, and make it diffuse enough that it doesn't look suspicious. Absentee ballots and voting machine hacks are far more effective and cheaper than conducting some massive in person voter fraud campaign.
