Learning Chinese is pointless, Chinaman are FORCED to learn a second language (generally english) to even sell shit, why waste money and time learning it while they mass produce perfect engrish machines
Mandarin and then Spanish. Depends where you live and what you plan to do. Spanish is really fuck easy to learn as well

I think he was talking about spanish...
There are no languages that "everyone" should know, English excepted. What languages are useful in everyday and business life depend, to a great extent, on where exactly you live. Spanish isn't going to be of much use to a man living in South Korea, just as Mandarin won't likely help the founder of a Brazilian startup.
With respect to different locales, I'd say that the most important languages for persons in various parts of the globe to learn are:
>English
>Spanish
>German
>Arabic
>Mandarin
>Russian
Definitely Spanish
Well, to be honest, i don't think thare's a reason to learn another language other that english. Yes, spanish and mandarin are more spoken, but China and Hispanoamerica are learning english. Why learn another language?

Also, pretty much all the countries on the world are learning English. English is the world language.

Since you know English already there isn't really a NEED to learn another one.
That being said, learn a language form a culture you like/admire. You can't begin to understand a culture without the language.
What culture do YOU like?
German culture, Spanish/latin american culture, Italian culture?
Personally, since I think I have a decent enough English, I want to learn Russian because I like Russia and it's culture. And maybe it might not be a "useful" language, but I'll content myself with understanding the music and literature. Perhaps if I get money, I might visit once or twice.

pretty much everyone here learns a bit of spanish as a third language

In Europe only English, German and French matter, followed by Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Russian and Arabic. And then Portuguese probably.

Don't go by numbers, go by use. Everyone will tell you mandarin but what are you even going to do with that? Do you have any skills that you can use to do business in China or with Chinese people? Probably not. If you actually needed to know Mandarin you wouldn't have to ask about it.
Don't go by numbers, go by what you're actually going to use and what is actually relevant to yourself. That can be Mandarin even, or something else like Spanish, or "dying" Japanese if you're a filthy weeb, a prominent Euro language if you like literature and Euro culture or are a heritage fag, or it could a Tolkien language or Hieratic Middle Egyptian or whatever you feel like.
Numbers is a bad argument because those numbers are way past the point of relevance. You're never going to talk to 5 million Swedes, when are you going to talk to 300 spanish speakers? You might say Swedes largely speak English, which is true, and this is the kind of questions you should be asking.
>how close is the language to my language
>do the people who speak that language speak english
>do they translate much of what they have into english
>do I care about what isn't translated to want to see it in the original
>>57759286
Japanese
>>57759286
Personally, I`d like to take German or French language classes.
These languages are more widespread in the world after English.
