In Hueland, the biggest internet provider will change thr way they provide services by capping the internet after an ammount of data was being used.

Today, its free to use. There is no limit in download or upload. You can use as much as you want because you already paid for it.

This company is saying that this is a worldwide phenomena, and that lots of countries are already capping the internet after you have used the ammount of data you contracted for that month. I know this is a widespread thing in mobile services, but for homes, its new to me.

Can anyone here confirm if this is really happening? The CEO said that in New Zealand is like that already.

If you guys could anwser this too it would be cool:

>How much it costs your internet in dollars per month
>What is your upload speed
>What is your download speed
>Do you have a limit to use and if yes, of how much data
>How does this affect you when using services like Youtube, NETFLIX or downloading games
>If your country dont have this, there are talking about doing this in the near future

Thank you bros.
>>
you know they wont really enforce that right

>>
No, here you can use it however much you want and pay 30e/month.
It was the same in my shitty eastern euro country.
>>
I'm fine since Vivo fiber doesn't have this kind of bullshit.
In fact I'm downloading around 60GB of content right now

Data caps was a thing with dial-up internet so something like 2000.

Today data caps are thing only in anglo countries US, Canada, NZ and Australia bcs they have weak regulator(one of the good thing from EU)
>>
Does the average brazilian have many ISP to chose from?

Or is it more or less the same thing?
>>
I've got a data cap of something like 500gb/month, and if I go over that it's dialup speeds.
Not that I have, since our net is bullshit slow I rarely come close - even with netflix, rss'd torrenting, relentless steam updates, etc for 3 people.

It doesn't

$50
80Mbps
5Mbps
Not I'm aware of
Some ISP put a 500GB cap, but only for some customers apparently.
>>
>>57679732
Two of the biggest ISPs fused last month.

The one that provided servei without cap was engulfed by the other than wanst to put a cap on the connection.

We have smaller ones, but they use radio, that although cheaper, is slower and can be unstable in rainy days.

Also, kids that like MMO games will no be able to pay because the ping is very high with radio.

>>57679817
Australia must be the exeption to the rule because you guys must rely heavily on radio and satelites to connect with the rest of the world.

This is one of the few positive sides to this whole capping issue

This.

That and torrentfags getting BTFO.
>>
When will this be implemented?

And which ISP is doing this?

Here its unlimited for everything but cellphone subscriptions.
Which also means all mobile broadband that isn't cellphone, but just radio tower instead of digging cables, is also without limitations.
>>

Austrialia is a weird case, because technically they are not worse of than Iceland.
>>
>>57682500
Any talks of this been implemented in the future?
>>
It was like that in the 90's...

That's not the future, it's the past. And New Zealand internet providers are probably worse than Australia, so I don't see how's that country an example.

The ISP in Brazil are the companies that offer cabble channel and services on demand here too.

NETFLIX was a huge blow on them because it could offer movies much cheaper than their channels.

By capping the internet, they are in fact, getting rid of the competition AND saving money with slower connections.
>>
>>57682735
There would be no such thing.
Because:
1. Cable licensing is done in a way to prevent that
For cable, i think the mini amount of companies you can contract is like 4.

2. Even if it where done, a contract is a contract. It would just end with people sitting on their old contracts until somebody offered a alternative.
