I've spent a lot of time with Chinese, Koreans, and Filipinos. In my experience, Filipinos are usually the most polite and kind. The majority of Filipinos that I have met seemed eager to try to integrate into the society they were living in (from my experience in Korea, China, and Canada).

How Bisayans and Tagalogs, Ilocanos, Moros, Ivatans, Aeta, etc, plus all the foreign ethnic groups like the Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, and now Koreans, and their respective mestizos and mulattos, somehow get along well enough to keep the country unified as it is, despite each group having VERY different values and cultures, is amazing. They really have no reason to even be as one country together, every ethnic group is bitching about each other. Yet, here they are.
That's why the amount of corruption and subterfuge that goes on there does not surprise me the least. People pretend their country is one, just like Japan, Korea or Malaysia. But they know deep down probably, that this is not the case.
That's also why I don't get Pinoy Pride. What is a 'Pinoy' anyway? It's like if you're not from the greater Metro Manila area, you're not really regarded as 'Filipino', the people there will refer to you as from whatever province you are from, as if you came from another country, which is, ironically enough actually quite accurate.
