we have 300 million+ people. I would rather live in a suburban home with my own space and a yard than in a european commieblock apartment with no land.

How do you expect us to order 300 million people into homes without using neat, tidy grids?
>>
better than commie blocks, I don't see another alternative in the case of america
>>
>>57638909
i prefer having all the stores and so on by walking distance
>>
Except commie blocks are confined to Eastern Europe, not the West.

That said, American burbs look comfy

Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes made of ticky tacky,
Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes all the same.
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one,
And they're all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same.

And the people in the houses
All went to the university,
Where they were put in boxes
And they came out all the same,
And there's doctors and lawyers,
And business executives,
And they're all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same.

And they all play on the golf course
And drink their martinis dry,
And they all have pretty children
And the children go to school,
And the children go to summer camp
And then to the university,
Where they are put in boxes
And they come out all the same.

And the boys go into business
And marry and raise a family
In boxes made of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same.
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one,
And they're all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same.

They have an inferiority complex. In Europe you have to be a really fucking rich to even afford to live in a typical suburban American house.

They also get mad about our wooden houses even though most of our houses are built with bricks and mortar.

because we don't generally like that American lifestyle where you drive everywhere, shop at wallmart etc. we prefer more vivid environment. And actually a pretty large chunk of Nordic people live in family house suburbias similar to American ones.
>>
>>57639583
I ask the same thing when I see your commie blocks. How do you move furniture into your house if the only way to enter it is through an elevator?
>>
>>57639583

>or you could just get your car out of your own driveway and then go to stores with their own yuuuge parks, buy a bunch of shit and then come back home comfy...
I don't want to, I have a store at my neighbour building so it takes me like 5min to go there and back home. Also, nature is like 100m away from here, a shopping center 200m and my school 300m so I don't even need to use a bike.

>>

Speak for yourself, faggot. I do like the car society, existing European urban layouts however simply don't allow it.
>>
>>57639265
The lot size is so regular, and none among
a thousand people were allowed to have a 1.5 sized territory because why not? All such people living under control and assigned to a given place in a social order which is uniform.

Meanwhile isn't there someone else who is over all the sweep of those people, like a dictator somewhere?

That looks really trashy and disorganized to be honest. If that were in America I would fully expect a redneck hick with 6 children and a battered wife to be residing in each house.
>>
>>57639752
desu there are tons of places like this throughout America. the suburbs and inner city are just a different story and obviously cater to a huge amount of people
>>
>>57639805
apartments in central areas are more expensive in Europe because people want to live there, not in car based suburbs, every country here has them as well of course. Finland is pretty much designed for private cars but still people want to live in city centers.
>>
>>57639974
>people want to live in city centers
American attitudes have changed in the last 15ish or so years and urban living has become more desirable. This is why many large cities have gentrifying areas and suburban areas are seeing influxes of minorities
>>
>>57639974
People are fucking morons.
>>
>>57639910
we don't really care that much about how our houses or gardens look for other people, we aren't that shallow as Americans, we just want that our environment looks comfy for ourselves and Finns pretty much prefer more natural gardens and such
>>
>>57640032
yeah, we also had a phase in the 60-70s when people wanted rather live in suburbs but now its pretty much that, the more central location, the richer people live there.
>>
Suburbs here are spread out on little bumps on hills so there's no retarded huge sprawl occupying where the trees should be. Since it's so windy at parts and divided by hill it doesn't really feel like a suburb, it's like little chunks of house clusters or rows tossed around. Feels almost like a town.

at least it's not copy paste. The older suburbs have some flavor and their own unique charm, none of them are the same...but that's changing, as they demolish shit and build new homes they build EVERYTHING identically.
>>
>>57639752
That looks so trashy, like trailer park trashy
>>
masterrace: older suburbs with different two storey houses, tree lined roads and a main street with some stores.

absolutely horrifying: one storey cardboard houses suburbs.
>>
>>57640397
430 square feet
Over USD170000 but it's 4 km from city centre, it's actually a basement to a house and also for other reasons it's not representative.
Doesn't mean that anyone trying to get a mortgage to buy it wouldn't throw up red flags for a bank.
40 sqm is about the lower limit for being able to get comfortable owner-occupier mortgages in Australia. Meanwhile people keep getting free money from the city council to build slums for foreign students.

What I personally don't like is that you *have* to use cars: The supermarket is walking distance from my house. In the US, it's basically a 15min drive. I'm Dutch, we like using our bikes.

Furthermore, the depressing "everything is the same"-feeling. Although not all suburbs have this (I guess the more wealthy suburbs are more unique). I like in a studio apartment and sure, all my neighbors have the same room. The difference is that the building is still unique.

Also walked "unattended" (with same aged children from my street) to the kindergarten about 1km away when I was 4
I guess that early exposure really made me feel for my local area and gave me a sense of navigation, I can always find my way home even through the dark fields no matter how wasted I am
