>Americans on this board WILL defend the brainwashing method they were subjected to
>they actually WANT to do the same to their children

what...... the....... fuck...... america.......
>>
Where I lived we said the pledge from kindergarten to 5th grade and looking back it seems ultimately innocuous
>>
They don't force is to say it, sometimes I say the pledge, sometimes I don't if I'm talking to friends. No big deal
>>
Pledge of allegiance is for children lmao. When Americans grow up we pledge to the Hatikvah
>>
>>57551783
So are only some kinds of brainwashing fine to you or just this specific one?

What's wrong with children pledging their lives to the glory of the American state? We Americans are one large family marching forward as one, guided by the words written long ago by the Founding Fathers. Children being incorporated into the United States family is a beautiful and grand event.

What is wrong with being patriotic? in a general sense, being caring about your country makes it stronger. Back in the 1940s and 1950s when America was in its best times, our nation was extremely patriotic. And look at everything that got accomplished.

I don't understand why other countries don't invest in self-interest

Who cares? Why does it matter?
Why do you get so assblasted about it? In what way, shape or form does this affect you so much that you started a thread on 4chan to rant about it?
I don't start threads about Australia, because I don't fucking care. Why are you so obsessed? It's pathetic
>>
>>57552132

Jealous that there are still People out there who actually care and believe in their countries values.
>>
>teaching people to respect the country they live in
wtf I love brainwashing now
>>
>>57551639
There is nothing wrong with instilling a love for your country into the next generation
>>
>>57552222
It should be "country's" since it's possessive.
"Countries" is just plural of "country"

Don't worry, it's an easy mistake to make
>>
>>57552252
>>57552222
>this triggers the American
>>
>>57551639

why would you want to work for a company where all of the employees don't give a shit about work. Nobody actually cares about the company or the job. And literally just works for a check and says fuck everything else? You wouldn't.

So why would you want to live in a country like that?
>>
you aren't forced to say it,
>>
>>57551985
Haven't you heard? National pride and patriotism are racist, because it reminds brown people that they're no longer living in a country where public defecation and detonating in crowded areas is deemed acceptable behavior, which makes them feel uncomfortable and unwelcome.

You don't want street-shitting suicide bombers to feel unwelcome, do you?
>>
>>57552280
USA is basically the last majority white country where people are allowed to be patriotic and proud of where they're from.
Look at Europe and how cucked they've become
>>
>>57552280
You can be patriotic without being forced to recite some brainwashing mumbo jumbo every single day
>>
>>57552333
Eh, most Aussies I know are proud to be Australian
>>
>>57552373
And yet the idea of the pledge of allegiance is somehow strange to you?

>>
So what's the difference between patriotism and nationalism
>>
>>57552402
Hungarians aren't white, not by a long shot.
And yes, Poland is basically the last bastion of hope for whites, a non politically correct country not afraid to be proud of what they are
>>
>>57552427

>Hungarians aren't white
>>
>>57552392
Yeah, just seems weird

We had to sing the national anthem before school assembly or whatever, but the pledge of allegiance just seems..... Strange
>>
>>57552351

It instills pride. What is wrong with that?
>>
>>57552416
Reminder that the "Nazi salute" is actually the Roman salute and predates Hitler or the Nazis.
But people don't like to know that because it hurts their feelings knowing not everything fit in with their agenda
>>
>>57551985
It makes you blind to the flaws of your country. Americans actually believe they live in the best country in the world.

Same with North Koreans
>>
>>57552351
>brainwashing
In what way?
>>
>>57552421
Not a lot, and both are virtues.
>>
>>57552258
hmmm yes good point
>>
>>57551639
I remember every Friday in elementary school these high school kids in military style uniform would march in before we sang the pledge of allegiance in a ritualistic fashion. I thought it was pretty neat and made me love my country 2bh
>>
>>57552457
The pledge doesn't say anything about other countries being worse, nor does it say we have no flaws........
>>
>>57552457
But unlike North Koreans we have ample reason to believe that.

Saying the pledge seemed like an OK thing to do back in the day, especially post-9/11 which was basically my entire childhood. Towards the end of high school however no one really cared
>>
>>57551639
Don't worry about it.
>>
>>57552513
How would you know, you've been brainwashed into believing it. There are many better countries to live than America. Some American cities are actually among the most dangerous to live in
>>
I stopped doing it in middle school or high school.

I wasn't anti-murrica or anything, but I disagreed with the pledge. Also edgy teenager mode was in full force.
>>
>>57552579
Because unlike North Koreans I'm allowed to travel, and of the places I've traveled I've yet to find any country better than America.

Nanny states are not my idea of better.

our country is SO young. The USA is such a young country. But look how far we've advanced in 238 years. That's because of the drive we've had as a people.

Europe really doesn't seem too great nowadays. Not sure about 'straya, but giant spiders are scary. Japan is like going back 50 years in a good way. You can go to any fast food chain and the workers are all native teenagers.
>>
>>57552522

The DPRK is a completely different animal. That IS brainwashing. Sending its people to camps if they are not deemed "loyal" enough. Telling it's people that every country on earth wants to slaughter it's people.
>>

>go visit someones country

I'd probably get a similar reaction if I went to a bar in Sydney and told some Aussies there "Australia is pretty neat. But there is some fucked up shit here"
>>
>>57552725

This cockhead actually started it

We were having drinks and he asked what Australia is like. I said it was great, etc, then he started with the "not as good as the USA, boo yah! Best country in the world baby!!!"

Triggered me desu
>>
>>57552819
I didn't say it was a utopia. I said it was the best country this world has, and I can damn well guarantee I've seen more of them than you.

If you disagree that's fine. No one was particularly fussed about your incorrect opinion one way or another anyway.
>>
>>57552819

We are not perfect. Obviously we have problems. But there is a reason why everyone's trying to move to the US. and not just from 3rd world shit holes. But also from other 1st world counties.
>>
>>57552868
If he said it like that it was obviously a joke, then you took it serious and his realization that he was talking with a stuckup autist is what you mistook for anger
>>
>>57552901

Well then you think there are no problems, hence utopia. Which is it?

Eh, I'd disagree. Maybe it's your area in particular? I'm 21 and in central PA and the people here can be pretty moderate or conservative. I've noticed liberals are usually the louder ones, so it gives the illusion they are much larger than they actually are. I do see where you're coming from, a LOT of people my age only see their side of the issue, laughing at Trump even being an option. But they are not beyond reason. I've spoken with many on issues like allowing migrants in, and after seeing what happened in Europe, are hesitant, recently-turned-conservative, or just silent.

Just out of curiosity... what are your majors? I do tend to notice a lot more liberals in non-STEM majors... so that could be the reason why you feel like you're inundated with them. One of the few non-STEM classes I've taken was Psych and within the first week there was some BLM protestor making snarky remarks in class.

In STEM I've met:
>a survivalist from WV
>an ultra-catholic italian-american
>a lesbian who dislikes most non-whites
...on top of all the countless quiet, humble conservatives who don't voice there opinions that much unless really pressed. The vocally loud ones I meet are mostly non-STEM. There are, of course, a lot of sheltered left-leaning STEM people, but even they are more moderate and reasonable than some of the shit I see in non-STEM.

sry if that sounded arrogant as all hell... just an observation at my school
