Why does America spend so much on healthcare?
>>
Because it's so good and easily available to everyone
>>
>>57507318
Because no laws that mandate hospitals to accurately tell people how much a procedure will cost in total, and Jew doctors bill whatever they feel like.
>>
>>57507318
fat peoples gotta go to the doctors a lot you feel me senpai desu desu senpai senpai desu desu senpai?
>>
>>57507318
Because of all the people getting shot, obviously
>>
Is it true burgers have to pay money to give birth? That seems insane to me
>>
>>57508163
Yes. If the mother can't pay the hospital bill they shove the baby back in
>>
>>57507318
Pharma companies increase their prices for treatments in the US market because they know the insurance companies will pay.

Also ridiculous things like charging $1000 dollars per night to stay in a hospital
>>
>>57507318
Because it's basically broken as fuck but no one wants to touch it for fear of political suicide. People will tout Obamacare but that was slapping a band aid on it. There's a whole myriad of problems with the whole health system that in order to fix you'd have to start branching into other fields, and its a lot of shit that people for the moment don't want to deal with.
>>
Fat people and smokers.
>>
>>57507318
Eh, it doesn't bother me. I functionally don't pay anything for health coverage.

This is true for the majority of Americans.

Bernie Sanders isn't president yet.
>>
>>57507318
Because our healthcare is superior. Investing in private insurance encourages innovation in the medical tech world creating jobs and scientific progress. Our doctors kill themselves getting into med kill and finishing their degrees and deserve to be paid well.

lol
>>
>>57507318
Seems like the problem is the insurance companies and health care providers negotiate with each other over the cost of healthcare. Higher cost means more profit for both the healthcare industry and the insurance companies. This cost is then passed onto the consumer. Americans could get a better deal if they collectively bargained with healthcare providers through the government, bypassing insurance companies.

Also people in the USA are much more likely to have diabetes or get shot.

>>
>>57509109
You might not foot the bill personally, but someone funds the inflated costs, whether it be your employer, the government or some other third party.
>>
>>57508163

it's better than what happened with us

>have bogan teenage cousin
>government was giving people $10k for having a baby
>she had 5 daughters from 2 different guys
>>
>>57509163
>You might not foot the bill personally

Exactly, it's functionally irrelevant. If you can't contribute anything useful, you should just kill yourself.

You DEFINITELY shouldn't receive free health services if you don't deserve it.
>>
>>57507318
Because we think death is optional
>>
>>57508523
>I functionally don't pay anything for health coverage.

Wrong. You pay more for healthcare out of your taxes than most Europeans.
>>
>>57509282
Yet, the amount of money that is actually removed each pay cycle is less for me, than it is for you.

My employer provides health benefits that are separate from salary negotiations.

I don't think you understand. Look at the graph and ignore the light blue bars.

The average American taxpayer pays more out of their taxes than the average British taxpayer. But your taxes don't pay for a universal service you can use. They pay for medicare/medicaid etc.

The British taxpayer's contribution via taxes will pay for a universal service regardless of who their employer is, nothing else is necessary. The American taxpayer pays MORE in taxes for OTHER people, not themselves, to receive healthcare (unless you're extremely poor). That's assuming your health insurance is completely free forever (i.e. your employment doesn't change).

If one day you do pay health insurance, add that payment on your already higher taxes.

Obama care, medicaid, etc.

Doctors charge outrageous amounts in the US over basic care. Go to the doctor for ten minute checkup? $100 for a dude just to look at you. Go to the hospital because you need a few stitches? Thousands of dollars. God forbid you get sick enough that you're on your deathbed, because then you're expected to pay a third of your lifes earnings and if you can't they'll hound your descendants.

does anyone even get this unless they're 50 yrs old?

You are legally required to get some form of medical insurance or face fines; the poor and old "can qualify" for both but good luck if you don't have any children.

Obama care doesn't cover jackshit either. I am poor as fuck barely making 20k a year and I don't qualify for obamacare. Even then, all of the insurance providers jacked up their prices and premiums significantly.
In my area I am expected to pay $700 a month just for healthcare that covers nothing, is accepted by no one.

Maybe, but your employer will provide you with free health benefits if you aren't a useless hack

It doesn't matter for me though, I'm a NEET and my family is rich
>>
>>57509951

Those other countries are well known for being a living hell--ironic as fuck--or is it not irony?
>>
>>57509951

disposable income does not include the ridiculous price for homes, food, living, travel, and anything you want to do in this corner of the world

i'd rather have 1,000 disposable euros than 3,000 dollars. The 1000 can go a long way over there when a flight to london from paris is 15 euro and a hostel is easily accessible. any fruits or vegetables also a quarter of the price here, plus you don't have to worry about healthcare or education, here it's basically street cash that doesn't go anywhere.

Cost of living is actually cheaper in the USA overall. Food, homes etc tend to be cheaper there. On the other hand the European State tends to spend more on transport, education, and so on. Although there is considerable variation in Europe.

I've analysed US and UK State spending and the main differences are that the US spends more money in fewer areas, mainly: defence, healthcare, pensions/benefits (you call it social security). The British State spends proportionally more in areas like education, transport and various other smaller things.

Your overall tax burden is smaller and your cost of living is cheaper though.

Anyway can't continue this because I have to go but it's an interesting subject.

Cost of living is cheaper in Germany than in the US.
Also we spend like 70% of our state earnings (700 billion €) into social securities (pensions, welfare, healthcare)
