I visited Detroit 2 years ago, and let me tell you, it is the definition of shithole.
Outside of the uber rich suburbs, and the downtown area, it was literally falling apart. The first thing I saw when getting off the plain was a broken and abandoned warehouse. I witnessed firemen asking for money for the fire department on the streets, that's right, the city is so poor, they don't have the money for a fucking fire department.
By far the saddest city I've ever seen, if you can't get out of the US, at least try to get out of Detroit.
