What books does /int/ read?
I'm currently reading some Pynchon up next is Joyce and DFW so I can complete the /lit/ meme trilogy.

bump
>Andrew Roberts Napoleon:A life
Pretty good, not that far in, but its extensive as fuck and deals well with Napoleon was just French Hitler nonsense
DFW?
>>57334012
Dope dope. Interested more in history or fiction?
I've been trying to switch back and forth but I have trouble finding time to read since I fell for the STEM meme and have a shit ton of coursework to do all the time.

Epistulae by Pliny
>>57334116
David foster Wallace. His book in the meme trilogy is infinite jest (hence the OP pic). I've read some of his shorter stuff (brief interviews with hideous people) and I do like his writing style but infinite jest is a pretty long book. I heard it's worth the read.
This is all you need to know regarding civilizations and their history (when you focus on West vs. East at least)

Mostly fiction, but i tend to read multiple books at the same time(well not literally the same time but you get what i mean) so currently im toggling between
>Napoleon
>Goebbels; by peter Longerich
>Coming of the third reich
>East of Eden
>The lies of locke lamora
>The girl on the train
>De eetclub(the eatclub)
muh neet lyfestyle senpai

I tend to do the same, without switching it up I feel things get a bit too monotonous.
Ah the glorious NEET master race. I wish I could do that, but probably can't here in America. I'm always way too neurotic and work oriented to chill out for months on end without anything to do.
>tfw spent 1200 € on a PC
>just use it to shitpost and read all day instead
currently balls deep in some schopenhauer
Re-reading "22/11/63" by Stephen King.

Welt als Wille und Vorstellung
It's great but a lot to wrap your head around. Yes he was autistic as hell.
Read it! Do you read philosophy?
>>57335568
I'll give it a try. I wonder how well the translations work I heard sometimes it fucks things up. And I haven't read much philosophy
I can't finish anything I start. There's always the good intention though...I start a 400 page book, let's say, and I am stuck at around ~180 pages. Blocked. No matter how much of a pause I make, I can't return to it
I probably half read around seventy books, and counting
So in all sincerity, I am (half)-reading "A comparative grammar of the French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese languages" by E.A Notley. An old comparative piece on Romance languages
And yes, I tried reading light literature, like novelettes you know, books that truly interest me...fucking hell, I can't finish a grocery store prospect
>>57335952
congrats your dumb
>>57335952
That happens to me sometimes. I don't really know why but the last half of the book can be a pain, up untill the ending then I finally look back and see it was worth it.
Tbh what your currently half reading doesn't sound very enjoyable (but certainly academic) good luck finishing haha
>>57336217
Thank you, my good compatriot
>>57336271
I get physically ill before attempting to finish it. I simply can't. And the book I'm reading is one of my top interests. Languages, that is. Especially Romance ones
>>57336382
>physically ill

Any of you lads have experience reading while on some form or stimulant? I love taking adderall and reading for hours on end. Add a nice tin of dip and I'm in heaven.
>>57336712
What DID he mean by this
>>57336979
Copenhagen Wintergreen?
>>57336979
What do you recommend other than Adderall? Not accessible here in Croatia
>>57337087
just stop trying to read, you arent made for it
I'm reading a book my grampa wrote. It's about a prostitute, very nice.
>>57337047
I do like cope. The best long cut ive had was stokers, but i can only get that if i travel out to pennsylvania. They sell it in tubs which is pretty crazy.
>>57337087
Hmmm not sure. Ive done coke and read but it doesnt really have the same effect as the adderall. Maybe just a ton of coffee/nicotene?
>>57333803
Struggling with Du côté de chez Swann.
Right now i'm reading Cortazar books again. Nothing new atm
>>57337412
How is it friend?
>>57337152
I'm not made for it, you little motherfucker? I had an almost photographic memory up until two years ago when I suffered a heavy concussion, slept for 5 days straight. My hearing has weakened, head circulation obliterated, scent decreased, short term memory fell harder than the rouble during Putin's presidency, eyes heavily sensitive to light, half of my day spent in a fucking fog. I'm working on it. Don't tell me what I'm made for. I'll make it
The Winter King, by Cornwell
love it desu
>>57337152
Do you see this? >>57337709
That's what happens when you rudepost.
Please refrain from rudeposting in /intbook/ threads.
Thank you.
>>57337649
Pretty difficult. The prose is out of this world, the character descriptions are amazing, but the plot and theme seem kinda superficial, at least at this stage.
I love Dune and hhgtg.
>>57338110
maybe the plot is mean to be that way.
Is there a certain work that you'd recommend as an intro piece?
>>57337709
>>57338083
im sorry, discussing books gets me on dark side
>>57338474
Yeah, I'm sure I'll discover its meaning after reading all 7 volumes.
Don't think you need to read any work of literature beforehand, but he does make a lot of references to paintings, so make sure you are ready to google their names.
>>57338808
Why is that?
>>57339022
>dubs
