I've never really understood the whole 'we were kings' thing... Even if all African Americans are the offspring of ancient Egyptians (which they're not), wouldn't the vast majority of them be unrelated to any kings, royalty, pharaos etc? I'm European, I live in a state that is actually a monarchy in the current year, I can trace my family tree back for literal centuries, and I'm pretty sure I don't have any royal blood.

Why do certain African Americans not only believe that they are the remnants of the people that used to rule parts of Africa, but ALSO believe they're direct descendants of the ruling class of that people?

fun fact:
most of the 'we wuz kangz' shit came from the fact that ancient art often used dark colors to portray men and light colors to portray women
so in art with only men you'd think they were just portraying black people

the reality is that men were likely to be far more tan than the the women

>The red of Rahotep's body and the yellow of Nofret's not only respect the observation that the skin of a man is darker than that of a woman, but also reflect the different status between the two genders.

Fuck off razio. Your bullshit holds no sway here. Genetics have already traced modern Egyptian genetic lineages back to the neolithic era.

Excerpt:
*Genetic analysis of modern Egyptians reveals that they have paternal lineages common to indigenous North-East African populations primarily (Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco), and to Middle Eastern peoples to a lesser extent—these lineages would have spread during the Neolithic- and were maintained by the predynastic period.*

Still. They're out there, and I've seen it in many places beyond /pol/, even though those claiming it are a marginal group. Example:

>intro
>'Don't look down on the youngsters because they want shiny things'
>'The reason they want dis jewelry and these diamonds is because we really from Africa, we originate from KINGS'

A) Even if you originated from kings, since when is liking shiny things and jewelry hereditery? Are African Americans part crow?
B) More likely than not you DON'T originate from kings

Not worried. Just intrigued.

>It's used in a metaphorical sense.
It's a dumb ass metaphor in that case..
>They went from living in sovereign nations to being slaves on a different continent.
Most slaves that got shipped to the Americas lived in tribal societies, not nation states though... And many of them would have already been slaves in those respective societies, as they were often bought by Europeans rather than caught.

>Africa must wake up Lyrics:

Africa must wake up
The sleeping sons of Jacob
For what tomorrow may bring
May a better day come
Yesterday we were Kings

>'I can' lyrics:
Be, be, 'fore we came to this country
We were kings and queens, never porch monkeys
There was empires in Africa called Kush
Timbuktu, where every race came to get books
To learn from black teachers who taught Greeks and Romans
Asian Arabs and gave them gold when
Gold was converted to money it all changed
Money then became empowerment for Europeans
The Persian military invaded
They heard about the gold, the teachings, and everything sacred
Africa was almost robbed naked
Slavery was money, so they began making slave ships
Egypt was the place that Alexander the Great went
He was so shocked at the mountains with black faces
Shot up they nose to impose what basically
Still goes on today, you see?

Yeah but Nas is like ancient history for the kids these days, so I went with a more contemporary track.

>To learn from black teachers who taught Greeks and Romans

Where does he even base this on though? I mean... Not that I automatically disregard the notion of Greeks and Romans being inspired/taught by certain black or colored peoples and their leaders, but I'd just think it would have come up somehow in my philosophy classes, or history classes or really any of the education I've had on the Roman Empire and their laws...

What the fuck am I reading? Most slaves did come from early feudal nations, not tribal societies. Tribal societies did not engage in international commerce because they did not have a complex enough social organization to value currency. Tribal people don't care about gold coins or paper money, they have no use for them. Most slaves were young men of fighting age who were captured in wars.

Stormfront and /pol/ are not your average whites, we honour greco-roman culture because it's what gave way to our own western societies, not because we want to claim it as our history.

>Most slaves did come from early feudal nations, not tribal societies.
Not the ones the Dutch traded afaik though..
>Tribal societies did not engage in international commerce because they did not have a complex enough social organization to value currency.
They didn't so much engage in 'international commerce' as 'drag the slaves to the beach where the European ship has landed and trade them for shiny things and guns'... Later the Dutch would build so called 'slavenforten' (slave fortresses) on the West African coasts, where slaves would mostly be brought by other Africans to be traded.

Tribal people don't care about gold coins or paper money, they have no use for them. Most slaves were young men of fighting age who were captured in wars.

>value currency
Since when do you need to value currency to barter, anon?

>Tribal people don't care about gold coins or paper money, they have no use for them.

That's why most slaves were bought by the Dutch with weapons and goods.

>>57314110
Ever heard of the fellahin? Did you know that the bubonic plague killed 40% of the population? Are you not aware that during Napoleon's conquest the population was 3 million and that it is 90 million today? Are you not aware of the assyrian, persian, libyan, canaanite, greek, roman, circassian, mamluk, ottoman turkish and albanian presence along with all the numerous arabic mass-migrations?

> When the arabs conquered Egypt in 642 AD and arrived at the Giza pyramids, they searched for explanations as to who could have built these monuments. At these early arabian times, no inhabitant of Egypt was able to tell and no one could translate the Egyptian hieroglyphs anymore. Egypt was pretty much not egyptian anymore and its arabization hadn’t even started yet.

It's not as hard as you think to change a population.
>>
>>57314267
so ancient egypt was white then?
fantastic.
>>
>>57314121
>Yes, they do.

The Dutch claim to be Romans? 4real?

>All of Western society claims Greco-Roman heritage.

The Enlightenment was built on Greco-Roman philosophy and law... Our current civil law system is basically a 1-on-1 copy from the Roman civil law system. But we don't actually claim to be their descendants... People just studied their documents and copied their system where it comes to Roman law, and found inspiration in old Greek texts and philosophies for the Enlightenment and reform of Christian society.

>I still think it's kind of funny how many government buildings in the US try to imitate their architecture.

That's just because the US has no culture and architecture of their own... Not because Unitedstatians claim to be Romans.

None, because I care very little about African history.
>Or are you going off of Wikipedia articles you have open in another tab right now?
I'm going off of what I was taught in history class in school, in relation to the slave trade by the WIC (West India Company).

> Because most slaves came from fuedal states, not tribal societies.

It might also be a difference in translation between English and Dutch, because I see 'stamhoofden' and 'koningen' being used interchangedly in Dutch sources ('tribal leaders and kings')...

>You can try and belittle that all you want, but it doesn't make it any less true.

Again: I wouldn't go so far as to call those societies nation states, but maybe the concept of 'state' has different connotations in Dutch than in English. My main point was that they were bought anyway, and not typically caught or captured.

The transatlantic slave trade arguably has more to do with European and American history than African history...
>>
>>57314685
The slave trade had an enormous impact on the formation of African states and determined how they progressed in the era before they were colonized. It has a lot to do with African history, much more so than European history.
