This board suffers badly from generals. Once, Australians and New Zealanders were the only ones who were not circlejerking in hugbox generals. Those times are over and it's difficult to find any interesting threads over the 12+ constant generals on this board.

There are too many generals though. Look at the first two pages of /int/ and you see almost entirely generals that get bumped almost literally every second. They suffocate any discussion that doesn't revolve around the mini-culture of that particular general. And even in those generals, there is rarely anything of any note discussed (from my past experience in /brit/).
If generals could be relegated to page 2 or beyond so other threads could survive I would be happy. People who use the generals can just then do a quick search in the catalogue.

The reason people are always complaining is because the mods never do anything about the issues raised. When you have consistent and constant moderation, people understand and 'get' the board. Those that like it stay, those that don't leave. That's how it should be. When there's a hands-off approach to moderation, which is the case here and on most imageboards, you inevitably get a changing culture and people coming in who don't adhere to the way things are (were) done and start their own shit.
