I'm 28 and live with parents in a pretty big house and like to garden and landscape.
I really, really don't like the idea of having to lose a bunch of money on rent/mortgage in a place with less space, and worse location than my parents house, and worse utilities. All the apartments I've seen in my "pay range" have had vastly worse kitchens, bathrooms, gardens, floors, heating and cooling, smell etc. than my parents house.
Unless I were rich or won the lottery to afford a nice place, all I want to do is spend money on food, fitness stuff, hobbies, gadgets, clothes and a car. I don't take life seriously enough to need any more
