In two years on /int/ and /pol/ I learned more about geography, history and politics than in 14 years of school.
I think that tells a lot about our shitty school system
No, I think it tells more about your shitty attention span in class

Nah the schools are shit pepe
My history teacher used to personify entire countries
You can't really learn anything like that. "Japan felt snubbed at versailles" was all you needed to know to pass the test. And I guess when you have 3 other impending tests that's reasonable
>>57263245
>My history teacher used to personify entire countries
So, just like the entirety of /int/ then ?
>>57263230
>>implying he has never been into books
What did he mean by this?
>>57263230
I'm starting to think jap posters are just bots that learn from what other people type like cleverbot

>So, it means you never read books before ?
(im a japanese translator)
>>57263534
yeah nah
>>57263591
yes.
OP says he basically needed /int/ to learn about geography, hostory and politics and that it proves that the school system is shitty
jap dude basically says "So it means you never read books ?" implying that if he had read books he wouldn't have had to visit /int/ to learn so much about what is simply general knowledge.
but I guess your overcooked aussie brain couldn't grasp that
>>57263534
yes
but 2bh i cant correct my shit and dont get around to it everytime i post.

Anyway I don't see how that matches up with his reaction image
>>57263892
lmao
thats your fault not mine
>>57263892
it's just banter mate, you'll be alright
School doesn't teach you anything useful, and that's the point. It teaches you skills, skills to make you a good worker. Reading, writing, maths etc. It teaches you nothing about politics or economics unless you choose it way down the line in higher education, which is strange considering your vote is one of the most important things you have and the only real influence over your country and your own life, and no effort is made to teach you how to use it properly, but then they don't want you to.

Institutional education =/= personal edification
Today you can learn almost anything (theoretically) on the internet. You have no excuse, so cut back on /int/er/pol/ and increase wiki time.

You learn what you're interested in. That's the way learning works.
You learned a lot here because the information is entertaining, and you submerge yourself in it.
Now try to apply this vigor to other more useful pursuits as well.
>>57271410
Although this is true, I think there's still a lot of criticism that should be brought to the education system, especially to teachers. I still remember some of the incredibly incompetent teachers I had back in high school.
>>57263011
Same here desu
>4chan has been more educational in 1 year than all these years of schooling
>>57271498
Yeah. But to be fair, it might also be because some students are out of control.
I went to an almost all black school and the teachers gave up after a week. It really was a daycare.
I'm not sure if I'm dumb because I'm just dumb or dumb because teachers never taught me anything.
>>57263011
It is much easier for a 20 years old (or whatver your age) to learn history and geography than a 12.
It takes more time to teach a 12 yo, but since a kid has nothing to do, might as well spend that time learning, so when he is 20 he already knows what he needs.
You could also learn all the mathematics you learn in school and high school in one or two years now, but since you already know, you could be doing something else.
>>57272149
>you learn in school and high school in one or two years now
Nigga you high? Any reasonable high school standard + adv. math curriculum could be plowed through in a week.
I hated myself for being so timid and nervous back then, now realizing the philosophy behind it's inception and utility, shit's ridiculously easy.
My history teacher never actually taught us anything, we just watched movies while he played Solitare.
>>57272281
I was thinking of a 20 yo learning everything from scratch.
Point is the same though.
>>57264022
>le school forms workers meme
That how you rationalize doing poorly at school or not being successful now.
Most countries teach what is needed for a good for a good foundation:
>people need to write, think and articulate their thoughts
language
>mathematics and logic is also important
mathematics
>people need to know where they live relative to the world and how their country is compared to others
geography
>how their country developed, other important countries as well; human evolution, etc
history
>being a blob is bad no matter how you look at it
physical education
>how humans express themselves and develop creativity
arts
>later, when they have sufficient brain to understand and the math requisites, critical thinking and understand nature
sciences (physics, biology, chemistry)
What else you needed to learn at school?
