The best transit in the country is in NYC or Washington DC
in NYC you have to put up with homeless, blacks, and piss smells left and right. Also there's no air conditioning in the lines that go out to Brooklyn and in the summer it can be 40 degrees down there. I was with a German and she could barely breathe down there.
in Wash DC you have to put up with downed lines, blacks, and stabbings every week. Not only that but the metro lines go into such strict routes that you have to drive to the stations unless you live close to a stop (Enjoy your $2000 per month rental).
Imagine living in a country as small as the Netherlands where people commute from the north to the south daily for work, it's that small and comfy, everyone is quiet in the trains, and it's 90% white. Fuck I want that.

The Oslo airport express train transports 20 000 passengers a day, and turned a profit of 30 million dollars in 2014.
The line is obviously dependant on the kind of public transit infrastructure that already exists elsewhere in the city, and the initial capital investment was huge (~1 billion USD in 1997), but it's popular and profitable enough that it's hardly a luxury.
